I didn’t want to use the kits because they use inferior connectors and lines. Using this connector and a braided supply line was much more expensive but also more durable and reliable. What was best was that, since I used this shark bite connector, I did not have to solder.

Does the shut off valve close/open both the 1/2” and 3/8” ports or just the 3/8” port?

Asked by: JdubB
Just the 3/8. That is why it's T fitting. The 3/8 feeds my ice maker it replaced the copper line tap. Now that I have replaced the feed to the ice maker and water line for the refrige the water flows an awful lot faster does not take as much time fill up a glass of water.

If it doesnt have the slip feature how is it installed on pipes already in place?

Asked by: Corky
There needs to be some flexibility in the current plumbing. You may have to remove some anchoring clamps, brackets, etc. in order to spring the current plumbing before you can install the shark bite.

Is this compatible with black "pex" in my mobile home?

Asked by: the13thalien
I'm not familiar with the black PVC or PEX pipe of a mobile home. Black pipe normally indicates ABS pipe which is a hard plastic. Regardless, if the outside diameter is 1/2 inch or 3/4 (outside diameter) then these should work fine. Just to be clear, if your pipes are ABS plastic, sometimes has an imprint on the outer walls. Just make sure you have about 1 1/2 inches of smooth pipe at the end. If the pipe isn't smooth and clean it could develop a small leak.
