Overview

Model # U870O100 Store SKU # 1001012293

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. Manufactured with an oxygen barrier for radiant floor and hydronic heating applications (available in orange). The oxygen diffusion barrier applied to the exterior limits oxygen permeation through the tubing wall in hydronic heating applications which prevents corrosion of ferrous metal parts in the heating system. A repeating SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite Push-Fit Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

  1. Strong, flexible, corrosion-resistant pipe
  1. Flexibility reduces number of fittings needed to complete a job; reducing cost and leak points
  1. SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to ensure pipe is fully inserted when using SharkBite push-to-connect fittings
  1. SharkBite system provides a variety of connection options, SharkBite PEX can be connected with SharkBite push-to-connect fittings or barbed fittings
  1. Listed to NSF 14 and CSA B137.5 for use in potable water systems
  1. Manufactured and tested to meet or exceed the requirements of the ASTM F-876/877/2023 and CSA B137.5

All of this tubing is stiff. I put the coil out in the sun and I was able to straighten it out for some straight runs..much easier, but you can't do that in the winter! I might like the Apollo just a tad more than sharkbite brand. Both work fine.

I'm thinking about building a DIY solar water heater using this coil oxygen barrier pex pipe covered in black paint. Good idea or is regular pex pipe a better option?
Asked by: Adam
Regular pex!! This stuff is thicker and doesn't play well with fabrication.

Yes, SharkBite PEX pipe is approved to AWWA C904 which covers PEX pipe in regards to burial. Be sure to check with local, city or state codes to see if the pipe needs to have sleeves or any type of protective burial for your area. PEX pipe can be used as a service line based on its corrosion resistance to soil and water, its long life, and its oxidative resistance. Is it possible to paint red/blue Sharkbite PEX?  If so, what type of paint or product works and/or adheres best?  Thanks.

Asked by: Paul
It is not recommended to paint SharkBite PEX Pipe with any type of paint. Doing so could damage the pipe and void all warranty.

What connector can I use to hook this up to 3/4 black pipe

Asked by: Tone
You would need to use a SharkBite female threaded adapter. Then you can install PEX pipe into the push to connect side of the fitting. If you have further questions, please contact Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.
