Now there are fewer Pex tools available. This one came from the Midwest to the east coast which took quite a long time to arrive and then more time while the truck was emptied. However it is a very good tool being the business end of a normal ring tool. It works as well as the original long armed version and cheaper than several competing devices some are in two parts and consequently much harder to use unless you have three hands. I wish I had bought this much earlier.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tool does NOT do 3/4 inch crimp rings. I bought this to do 1/2 In. and 3/4 in. copper crimp rings, as it is advertised here to do, and got it today. It does NOT do 3/4 in. ---I should have looked at the picture more closely! It also requires another tool for use and unless you have a large set of channel locks, you cannot use it. The tool is of good steel quality but the description is very poorly written on the Home Depot website.

Don't the use of locking pliers damage the 3/8" go, no-go gauges?

Don't the use of locking pliers damage the 3/8" go, no-go gauges?
Asked by: OldManOnTheMountain
They might over time, but I've made 15 or 20 connections now and I don't see any damage yet. The metal used in this tool is fairly hard and it isn't easily scratched or marred.

Can I use this tool with stainless steel sharkbite clamps?

Asked by: as
No, this tool is for "swaging" or permanently compressing a copper ring to secure the PEX to a fitting. The stainless steel clamps need to be installed with a different tool that tightens the stainless steel band and tensions it over the PEX. It's a different method.

How does this work?

I read another comment that you're supposed to use a vice grip, but it is bigger than my vice grip could reach (3" vs 1" or whatever the actual measurements are)- maybe I had the wrong tool. is it possible to load a picture of how it's supposed to work
Asked by: gloria
The inside of the go-no go guage on the left in the photo is where the vice grips are applied.
