Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a pretty average washing machine outlet box. ... This is a pretty average washing machine outlet box. I ordered this specific version ahead of the 2-3 versions that were available in the store because I wanted to take the opportunity to add water hammer arrestors and planned to utilize SharkBite fittings for installation. I was also upgrading to the 1/4 turn valves, but nearly any new outlet box comes with that kind of valve. The plastic was a bit thinner than I expected when compared to the old 1987ish box. While the new box plastic was more flexible it was not as thick as the hefty box I removed. While this doesn't bother me too much, I was able to see some of the orange hue of the spray foam I used around the box through the plastic after final installation. In an interior wall installation (no insulation surrounding the box) I don't think this would be an issue. I'm debating a quick coat of white trim paint over the bezel now. Popping out the drain cover made me feel like something was going to break but it was no issue. One oddity: My valve handles face upward and are OPEN when pushed back and CLOSED when pulled forward. This is certainly not a big concern; it just seems counter-intuitive. Installation was easy with the proper SharkBite components. Valves move cleanly and smoothly. I didn't have much water hammer before the install so I can't talk to the effectiveness of that component.

The item has faucets on bottom of housing and I needed them on top. I was unable to remove and she helped me to remove them. I usually go to Lowe’s for the military discount and my Home Depot the workers are not too nice. When in Florida I will go to your store more often.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing for Shark Bite Limited words here so can't explain all that's wrong. You have to remove valves and reassemble which results in the valves rounding the plastic because of the poor knockouts. Adapter necessary for the drain (2" instead of standard 1 1/2").

One of the fittings is leaking between the sharkbite fitting and the valve, is there any way to remove this valve from box and do you sell separately or do I need to return the entire box? Really sucks that I already have drain pipe glued to box.
Asked by: Steve
You can remove the fittings. I didn't do it, but the instructions clearly go over that part. "3. For a center drain application with bottom supplied water lines, the valves must be moved to either side of the center drain. Refer to A-1 instructions below" from the Installation Guide. SharkBite will have to address the replacement but their catalog is readily available in pdf. It's a good resource.

I purchased this item but can’t figure out how to remove the valves to make this a center drain position.

Asked by: dennis
Unscrew the valve retaining nuts to remove them, flip the box around and install the valves into the outboard knockouts and install the drain in the center knockout.
