Dust Control Drywall Compound is a revolutionary product that reduces the mess associated with sanding drywall compound. Dust Control Drywall Compound goes on the wall as well or better than other leading drywall compounds, with the added value that when sanding most of the dust falls straight to the floor and doesn't float around in the air. It is an all-purpose compound that can be used to embed tape, fill and finish gypsum panels, bead, trims and fasteners. It can also be used for skim-coating over dry and non-glossy surfaces.

  1. For embedding CGC Sheetrock® Brand Paper Joint Tape, applying drywall filling and finishing coats. Also for covering fasteners, CGC Sheetrock® Brand Corner Bead and Trim.
  1. Reduces airborne sanding dust for faster clean-upideal for remodeling projects.
  1. Less weight, less shrinkage (minimizes coats over corner bead) and easier to apply and sand than conventional weight joint compounds.
  1. Store at room temperature in a dry location. Protect from freezing, extreme heat and exposure to direct sunlight. Do not use if material is discoloured or has an unpleasant odour.
  1. Coverage Joint finishing, 4.5 L finishes approx. 11 m²
  1. Remix contents before use. When taping and finishing joints, thinning with water may improve application. Add clean water in 250 mL (1 cup) increments, remix and trial-apply until preferred consistency is reached. Over-dilution causes abnormal shrinkage, poor bond and other negative effects. Do not mix with any other material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premix Drywall Great Product. This is an excellent drywall compound. Far easier and smoother than a self mix powder. Needs room temperatures to cure. I used it to mud the drywall in my basement which was about 15C and the next morning had not set, but was fine after I turned up the heat. I thought that the 12 litre pail would be way more than I would require but ended up using almost all of it, so make sure you get enough. Also the dust control feature was really, really good and greatly reduced the amount of dust when sanding. This was a real time saver in the clean up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, easy to apply and low dust holds up Great product, added a cup of distilled water to mix to thin it slightly when adding mud layer. Otherwise great to use out of the bucket. The other reviews make no sense, people either used dirty water, or purchased a previously used / damaged product by other users. It happens a lot at home depot where returned used items are accepted back. Mud should be nice and smooth, pure white, and worked great for our application, purchased several of these pails in our basement renovation project.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Joints and gaps not hardening. I bought this product two weeks ago. Any joints that have gaps larger than an eighth of an inch are still soft after two days. Either I got a bad batch or this Dust Control product is not up to task. My house is dry and without moisture issues and the drywall is newly installed.

Having problems with drying! The 12L bucket I just purchased has been up for three days and is still beige colour and not drying. Two previous 4L (smaller) pales I purchased went up with no issues on drying time. Do I have a faulty batch?

Either that or you plastered it on way too thick or your surface has wetness issues restricting the product from drying. Does the compound dry on your tools? Fill a screw hole and if it does not dry then there is probably something wrong with the mixture - highly unusual though.

Do you have to mix this pail compound with water before you use it? Does it keep its consistency?

No it’s already mixed. It’s a nice soft consistency, easily spreadable. It stays consistent through the use of the bucket .. just keep the lid on so you don’t dry it out. I scooped it out into a small drywall tray when applying it.  I give it five stars.

What is the difference between CGC Dust Control Drywall Compound and Synco Classic Finish Drywall compound?

Hi Roland, the Synko Classic Finish compound is for the filling coat (second coat) and finishing coat (third coat) over embedded paper joint tape, corner bead, trim and fasteners.. Synko Dust Control Compound is an all purpose compound that can be used all layers of finishing with an added benefit of less airborne dust when sanding.

Is this used for the final coat on walls?

I have used this product in the past and the it does not seem to dry hard enough to avoid sctatching and being prone to dents even after painting. Would it be best to top coat this with a harder compound?
