They say this is a temporary structure but the rachetes don't have a release mechanism so to take the structure down you would have to cut the straps, and replace the straps and rachetes to put it up again. The stiching on the door piece could have been finished off better because the piping to weight down the door piece causes it to want to separate. To put together, only has one step that required three people, the rest can be done by one person - just takes longer to assemble. Overall for the price not too bad a deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I recently bought this to store a vehicle over the winter. The metal pieces all fit together well. The one issue is that the holes are "punch drilled" which pushes the metal in a bit, making the round hole not-so-round, and leaving a protruding metal burr inside the pipe that makes installation difficult, and scratches the pipe being inserted. The instructions are excellent, except that the diagonal measurement given for ensuring that the unit is properly rectangular is wrong. Just measure it from both directions, and adjust so that both measurements are within an inch, and you're golden. The design of this unit is really good. The tarp fits well and is held down tightly all the way around. It also sheds snow quickly, so I'm less worried about the weight buildup. If you are concerned, go inside with a broom and gently poke the ceiling to cause the snow to break up and fall off. The one major issue is the type of anchor that is included. Garbage. If you have a yard with stones and roots in the ground (ie, not a perfectly manicured lawn) then good luck ever getting them to "screw" into the ground. You're better off digging a hole, inserting the anchor, then burying it again. I went with what another reviewer mentioned: 30-inch Ratchet Anchor Easy Hook (4-piece). I bought two sets. You simply pound them into the ground with a sledge hammer. If it comes loose, move it a few inches, and do it again. Eventually, it will grab rocks and roots and stay put. If not for the terrible anchors that come with it and the minor fitment issues, I would leave 5 stars. Still a great car port.

The ends can easily slip off at the top of the unit in high winds. My unit had no zipper pull on the door on one side. When I called them they want pictures...do I take a picture of a 8 ft door with no zipper pull? stupid. Of course the sides are zipped close when you put it up, and I didn't notice there was no zipper pull till it was complete. waiting to see if they send me a whole end, or I can get a pull put on the existing zipper....

Could use some written instruction besides the pictures, but we figured it out. Definitely took longer than product prediction, but we put down a nice gravel base. Ground anchors very hard to get into NH soil. My RAV4 fits nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality product This product arrived in a timely manner to my local store. It appears to be very sturdy and of good quality. I managed to assemble the heavy duty frame by myself by doing it in sections and then asked my neighbors to help me put on the good quality cover. I have tightened all the nuts and fastened down the cover and waiting to see how it holds up over the winter. I live on the westcoast by the ocean and the November winds can be fierce, so we will see.

Is this suitable for Canadian winter conditions?

Asked by: LizMG
Haven't had it long enough to answer about a Canadian winter, but it has already survived several severe thumderstorms with nickel sized hail. I did do some softening around the sharp metal joints with fabric strips, I'm sure that has paid off already. I'd say the hailstorms are more of a test than snow, as the roof is quite peaked and slick, and I think the snow will just slip right off.

Can this unit be installed on asphalt driveway? How is it anchored? Do you have a video of a typical installation to share?

Asked by: Alex
Hi Alex, This shelter can be anchored on an asphalt driveway. You will have to drill a hole in your asphalt to accommodate for an Earth Anchor and then re-filled. Unfortunately, we do not have a video of this process. If you have any additional questions please feel free to call us at 1-800-932-9344.
