Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok It's ok. Doesn't seem to close tightly. First one was broken. I gave a 4 because the customer service was decent in replacement otherwise 3.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality of materials I bought these two vent 14 months ago. They are now so brittle that large pieces of plastic are falling off. They clearly were not made with a polymer with any sort of UV protection. Consider these disposable and don't expect them to last more than 1 year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needed tweaking These came quickly.. set them up inside my greenhouse to see if they worked before we cut a hole. One opened, the other didnt. We looked closer and the springs didnt look the same. The one that didn't open...the spring was in backward. We fixed it ourselves. Both work fine now.

Can these be manually forced to stay open, overriding the 76F automatic opening?

In northern WI, it won't reach 76F inside our shelter, but we have a MASSIVE amount of condensation on the inside (December temps ranging 5F to 40F). The older model of these vents stayed open and want to make sure these can be made to stay open and ventilate in cold temps as well.

Garage vent?

Can this be used to vent a garage as a gable vent?
Asked by: Jj
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the commenters who say this vent would be okay for installation in a permanent structure like a garage. It's made of plastic and designed to be installed in the gable ends of a fabric covered structure ("shed"). I have two of these vents in my 10' x 10' Shelter Logic shed and they work as intended. It might be possible to install the vents in other shed-type structures, but that would have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. That said, this vent would be an extremely poor choice for a typical wood-framed garage. Check your local building code for specific requirements. Then, . . . spend a little more and buy a proper permanent vent for your garage.

Can i used this on a non insulated metal shed door?

the metal door is about 2/16 of a inch thick.
Asked by: fb2324
If the panel is flat (a textured panel will require caulking to keep rain, bugs, and rodents out), there are no structural concerns, and assuming you can safely cut the opening to size, you should have no problem installing these vents on a shed door. You'll have to use sheet metal screws or machine screws with nuts to attach them to a metal panel. Keep in mind that air exchange is simple convection. The vent has to be installed as high in the structure as possible and there has to be some way for cooler air to enter near the floor to get any real benefit. The vent may be fully open at 104 degrees, but if the shed is out in the hot sun, the interior temperature may continue to climb well above 104 degrees.

Does this exhaust air out or does it bring air in ?

Asked by: Kano
Hi Kano, Air exchange is by convection. This will allow hot air to escape your tent. Hope that helps!

Since the colder weather is coming will the vent still operate or stay closed? Because the operation info says 74-104 F.

Asked by: Dutchy
In cooler weather the vent remains closed. It uses a bi-metal spring to open it when weather warms up.
