This ice salt isn't actually made of ice, but is made entirely of salt, which is great, because I wanted to use it to get rid of ice and do other things. The bag was intact and was completely filled with salt. It didn't have any ice in it at all! Before using the salt, I carried the bag inside of my house and stood on a bathroom scale with the bag in hand; the weight of me and the bag, less the weight of me without the bag (I had to set the bag down for this), equalled the weight of the bag as advertised. This is great! I noted that consuming a small amount of the salt can cause redness and drooling but I also realize that this is not for consumption. It is for melting ice, and is melts it real good. This salt is great! Never been happier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Salt It’s salt. It works. It’s cheap. I have been using salt on iced walkways for 50 years, and it still works the same as it ever did. Not great for grass, so don’t throw snow or ice on to your lawn or garden, throw or push to the road.

I try to minimize use of salt in general though for environmental reasons. Most of the time, an ice scraper will do a great job without use of salt.
