Overview

Model # A21Z Store SKU # 1000170463

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).

  1. Versatile connector for various 90° connections and home repair projects
  1. Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  1. Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  1. Made from 18-gauge steel
  1. ZMAX® galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications
  1. Install with 10d x 1-1/2 inch nails or #9 x 1-1/2 inch Strong-Drive® SD screws

Used the corners to create vinyl window frames for winter protection of our closed-in porch and they worked fine, holding the window shape. The only concern is that some edges of the angles are sharp and could cut the vinyl or the window screen. Now getting ready to take the "winter windows " down for the spring and summer.

My single complaint is the packaging. They were in an overly large box for the item and scattered in the box. I would have preferred that they come in a smaller box and wrapped together. Not a big deal.

What is the correct way to secure 6 inch subfloor joists

for small floating deck
Asked by: tag
Consult your local building code until you give up and make friends with a carpenter. If you insist on doing such work yourself please don't use this model for that application: do some more code an product research and watch lots of Youtube videos as recommended above. Then enjoy your (hopefully) floating deck

Can I use #10 1-1/4 inch screws with these

Asked by: Scott
As our helpful friends have said in possibly too technical a fashion, a #10 screw is too thick for the existing hole size, #9 or #8 screws are much better choices.

A21Z vs A21? Which has better corrosion resistance?

I would have assumed the A21Z had better corrosion resistance than the A21, but the A21Z seems to be less expensive than the A21. Am I misunderstanding something about the "ZMAX" coating?
Asked by: PhilS
Zinc galvy is your corrosion resistant friend; as for pricing: never look a gift-horse in the mouth PhilS.
