Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Sturdy. Quality paint finish. Post fit is snug - you'll have to drive it home. Because of the tight fit, if you install the base even a little bit off-level, it will not be a vertical post, as I found out, and is 'on me'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well but additional associated costs require Great product and quite sturdy. This can work with or against you but the base to slot a 4x4 is meant for a finished 4x4 and this also presented itself with a bit of wiggle room. The need for the side bolts are requierd to prevent it from moving. What's more important, but doesn't come with are the concrete bolts to fasten it to the ground. Adding the cost of those (for me they were concrete bolts) raised the price of each post installation to be a bit on the expensive side for my application

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Purchased this to support a post for a Deck landing. A fresh 4x4 fit snugly into it, suspect an older dried one would be an easier fit once it's shrunk a bit. All round solid product, now that the base is bolted into the concrete--it's not going anywhere--it will probably outlast the post. Great product, would buy again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Secure Works well. It is a extremely tight fit for a 4x4. I put some dish soap on the base and hit it in with a 4lb sledge. Only thing that they should change is the big ignorant sticker right across the front. It is a pain to get off if you are going to have an exposed base

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this A lot of post movement inside of base. We used this as a gate and couldn't fix it. So we have to build another post in the ground and another concrete post base (not using this one again). Disappointed cuz the money spent on a cheaper one is a better solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeping fence sturdy and strong, Recommend it. I have used it to to build little privacy fence on my drive way. Works really good. After few days of installation there was storm with high velocity wind and nothing happened to fence. Fence is sturdy and strong after storm. Use right concrete anchors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm! Bought this to fix a small fence over cement and it does the job quite well. The main challenge was to drill the holes and make sure they were aligned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EZ Base post holder Good solid construction. A little tight for a 4x4 but looks and feels like it will last a long time.

what should be used to anchor this to concrete?

Asked by: corora
Hi! E-Z Base (part FPBB44) requires four (4) - 1/2" diameter anchor bolts for anchoring to the concrete foundation. The anchors need to have a hot-dip galvanized finish. However, the depth of embedment needs to be determined by the project designer.

Does this bracket is capable to hold the post that is attached to wooden gate that is 50-60 kg?

Asked by: Maulik
My opinion is that it would not support a gate of that weight, at least not without a back-brace on the hinge post. To support a gate like that, you would need to install a brace on the hinge post to stop it from bending over from the weight of the gate.

Can I use these to install 4"x4"x8' cedar posts for a gazebo? I am looking to drill the base into 3/4" outdoor porcelain pavers that are 24"x24".

Asked by: matt72
I used them on a 10 ft by 10 ft dog shelter with a sloped metal roof with 4 -4by4 posts. The 2 in the front were 8 ft. The 2 in the back were 7 ft. I drilled the bases with tapcon screws into 1 1/2 inch thick 24 by 30 inch cement patio stones.(They weigh 100 lbs each) My unit is nice and solid. I would say the heavier your pavers the better, To give it stability.

Would this bracket work sufficiently on asphalt? Or would the asphalt not be considered strong enough? I'm planning to use it with a fence gate setup.

Asked by: KYeam
I would not recommend anchoring in asphalt, I don’t believe it will hold sufficiently. The brackets work amazing on concrete but in your case you’d be better off to cut the asphalt, dig and pour the posts into concrete.

Hi Can I use this base to support posts of a shelter with corrugated plastic tiles? Thank you

Asked by: Frank
Hi Frank, thank you for your message. We want to make sure we address your question about using the E-Z Base with corrugated plastic tiles. The E-Z Base is meant to be used for fences that are 4' or shorter and is non-load rated. With that being said we would not be able to comment on if the base would work for your application trying to support a shelter. Since you are wanting to use a base to support posts of a shelter you might want to take a look at some of our load-rated post bases such as the RPBZ, ABA, ABU, etc. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you. - Stacy
