I pulled it apart, screwed these to the posts, and put some of the better sections of the fence back together. It also worked great on the new sections that I had to rebuild.

What size screw?
Asked by: Mel
Hello Mel; I expect you will get many different answers to your question. It becomes a matter of preference after a few years on various installation or replacement projects. A suggestion is 18d to 20d nails or 3-1/2 in. to 4 in. long screws.

I bought these for what I thought was more support but no so instead of using horizontal can I use them vertically?

Asked by: Tyrod97
Yes, works fine, but not as designed. Depending upon application, you may need to add horizontal bracing for support & side loads.

Thinking of building a floor to walk on and use this yo tie the 2x4 together on a metal post frame how much weight will the bracket hold
Asked by: Jp
Hello JP, The bracket is best suited for wood post answering from my use. I would expect you might have to figure out how to prevent rusting, vibration slippage, etc. A reasonable idea until someone points out why not.

This is a safety issue. No one can answer this without knowing what the lumber you are proposing to use will be supporting. Simpson will have the specifications for each of their products. I would suggest you contact Simpson Technical Services: https://www.strongtie.com/contact
