Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install I bought this a month ago after my contractor pulled out of my basement renovation before finishing it. This ceiling was straight forward to install. We had to be creative with some of the clips to make it fit the space by cutting them in half to provide enough pieces, but there was plenty of tile and edging to complete the job. It is a Canadian made product and looks great. It has added several inches to the height of the basement without being a fixed ceiling which was the prime reason for buying it. Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but worth it to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent product Pros: Decent product to install yourself. Looks good, much better than the old commercial 4x8. More of a coffered ceiling look. Total thickness is 1 1/4". Cons: -A bit pricey and wasteful since you can only buy it in kits of 64sq/ft. The individual piece packages are expensive if you bought the pieces individually the equivalent of what's in the kit would cost you double. So plan out what you need, buy extra since you can return it. -The slide clips are defective, the 4 kits I got in March would not go on unless you hammered them on. -Only meant to go on ceiling wall to wall. If you are trying to do a bulkhead or have any other outside corners you have to get creative. Tips-- If you are short on panels don't order the extra ones, HD sells hardboard 1/8" thick white which is identical to the panels. Snapclip kit 16pannels=$100 If you buy the 4x8 sheet and get HD to pree cut them for you at the 22.25"width x8' than all you do is cut your finished size for fillers on the wall= no waste. You get 8-2x2 panels out of a 4x8 sheet for $19.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I bout this for my daughters basement that has bulkheads. I did not want to lower any of the other areas any more than needed. This product allowed me to do that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking and easy to install Great looking ceiling. I wish I had remembered the review where they said to cut the clips in half to save on them, wound up going into another box just to get clips. Overall very easy to install and looks great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn’t last Installed for a client several years ago. Looked great for a short while, but the thin hardboard is cheap and sags over time - especially where there are lights. Incredibly expensive for cheap pressboard panels. If the installation clips are even slightly to tight to the joists, the clips don’t snap in like the video, the have to be hammered in. The design of the clips allows some rolling of the clips if you have to strap the ceiling to level it. The idea is solid, but the thin hardboard panels are too flimsy to make this a viable long term solution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ceiling, not enough clips. Overall happy with the ceiling. Not enough clips though. Had to get creative and cut them in half which was not ideal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system I bought this in January 2020 from Home Depot to finish off our basement. I would recommend two people to do this to make it go faster but it can easily be done by yourself. The ceiling system is beautiful, easy to set up and put together. As long as you know how to read a measuring tape, this product is perfect for you! If you have ANY questions, the customer service from Snapclip is amazing, fast responses! I dealt with Alexander from Snapclip who helped guide me through any questions or concerns while I was doing my project. Super product, super customer service. Advice: Measure twice, cut once!

How do we install this over furnace ducking that hangs down?

Asked by: Mike
I had air exchange ductwork. I built a bulkhead around the ductwork and installed the snaps clip afterwards onto the bulkhead.

I have a room 12ft by 17ft, is there a way to make this system work for a wider room?

Asked by: Steve
I did the majority of my basement with it (Approx. 750 sq ft) and it worked out great. Just figure out your square footage and add a couple extra boxes for the extra joints you will need. Instructions are nice and easy to follow. You can also return any unused boxes in store with no hassle. I would buy this product again for sure.

Can this product be used in bathrooms?

Asked by: Sassypants
They dont recommend It. You may have brown spot if It's too humid, and the tile may bend. I have no problem so far after one year , but I have good ventilation in the bathroom.

Has anyone installed this on floor joists that aren't level? Is there any way to adjust the clips in this case as worried panels won't slide due to difference in height of the joists in some spots of our basement.

Asked by: Uneven floor joist
If you have several joists at issue ... i would use string or laser level and set the snapclip to the lowest point and then shim all other brackets to that .. then set the edge trims ... will double the install time ... but it will make ceiling level In my case i have ONE floor joist that is low ... and i used plywood to splint the joist .. then shaved the low spot with a power plane... Also .. if you have hvac ducts above snapclip .. insulate them WELL ... if you dont the snapclip panels warp and shift more than rest of ceiling.

Odd question…. I have atoms ceiling speakers that would be installed inside 4 of these panels.  Would this system be able to hold the 10 pound ceiling speaker?

Asked by: Brento
Not an odd question at all. I installed ceiling speakers as well, the panels are pretty thin and I would not recommend using them to support anything other than an LED pot light. The rails, however, are much better for supporting weight so we put cut a piece of 1/2" MDF (could use plywood too) and placed it between the rails where we wanted the speakers. You could cut the MDF to the same size as the tile or just a strip wide enough for the speaker hole and long enough to rest on the rails. Then use your speaker template to cut the hole in both the MDF and tile being careful with your measurements of the hole center to make sure they will line up once they are in place. This way your speaker is supported on the rails instead of the tile.
