We bought in 2014 and that winter was the worst. It was good. It had lots of use, it worked fine. The next winter, it wouldn't start. took it in to be fixed. Needed a new carb. Got that, took it home and it worked for a month. Starter pulley broke. Okay, it has the electric start. Got me through that winter. The next winter, the electric starter went. I brought it back in. They replaced the electric starter and pulley, cleaned the carb. I took it home and a month later, the electric starter went again and I couldn't get it started. I had to go out and buy a new Snowblower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Snowblower Used for two Chicago very snowy winters. Worked great. A little trouble starting up the second season, but thereafter worked just fine. This is a very heavy snowblower, can be a little difficult to turn in deep snow. I did a lot of research online before purchasing this snowblower. I am please with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value snow blower for a medium home I bought this late last year and used it through a winter season with quite a few heavy snow storms. It did perfect job in clearing a mid-size 4 car driveway. Clearing the snow bank at the end of drive way is also quite effective. Electric start is really helpful in below freezing conditions as you want to get the work done without straining your body too much. So buy a 14 or 16 gauge start cable. It's worth it. Maintenance is also quite straight forward. To do it cleanly, you will need a rubber tight spot funnel, so you can squeeze it between the wheel and the blower body to direct the oil drain. Also advisable to elevate the machine when you change oil so you can better fit a drain pan underneath. Make sure the machine is stable when elevated. One minor minus: - Though self-propelled, it can only go straight. So if you have to clear an area with many corners and turns or landscaping to avoid, maneuverability might be an issue. For my own house this is not as big a problem. But overall, this is an excellent 2-stage snow blower perfect for a mid-size home with double driveway, and is often blocked by snow banks after municipal snow ploughs clear your street.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little blower I bought this the day before a big storm that left drifts of 15 inches. This little beast plowed through the worst of it with no problem. I bought this from stock at my local store and it was the only model they had in stock. And the storm was coming so bought it. With my Home Depot discount I paid just under 500 dollars. On the plus side it was very effective and good value for the cost. There are some negatives: 1. It is only 20 inches wide. My previous one was 22. 2. It has only one speed: SLOW. 3. The transmission has no differential so it is hard to make a sharp turn. 4. No bells or whistles. Just basic functionality. Despite the negatives I am pleased with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product Good product for the price. If it had backing gear, it could be easier to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value For comparable power and capabilities of other quality brands, you can't go wrong with the value Sno-Tek provides at the price point. It's a sub brand of the well respected brand Ariens. Starts up every time, even on manual pull start. Needed only 2 pulls when it was below zero the other day. Highly recommend!

Is electric start available for this model and if so how much does it add to the price?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The current Sno-Tek 20 model is equipped with electric start. I don't use the electric start because its easy to start. Its about the same amount of force as pull starting a lawnmower.
