It's light to lift and to make matters even better , with the second handle , it makes it super easy to remove the snow off the deck and driveway easy, even when you have piles of snow already on the sides of the driveway. I use to find it very hard to shovel off the driveway after a couple of storms with the drifts on the side of the driveway. Now l do not have to dread going out to shovel. When l clear the driveway, l use my snow scoop to push it to the sides and then use my favorite , the Shovelution to throw it off the driveway....nothing more to be said. Will buy again when this one reaches to the end of it's life.

But with a Snow Joe, the addition of a second handle positioned such that you can put the strength of both arms to your advantage and thus reduce the strain on your back is an improvement that makes great sense. I will never go back to using ordinary snow shovels having used my Snow Joe with the wettest, heaviest snow from an early spring surprise dumping of 10 inches of the stuff. If you need to get extra tossing distance to clear your path there is no other way to go to get the job done quickly. I highly recommend the Snow Joe.

This really does make shoveling easier on your back. Try this product out.... you won't be sorry! As a matter of fact, your lower back will LOVE you for it!

It definitely is easier on my back, since it uses my arms and shoulders more. The 18" width is an ideal size for clearing snow. The spring assist is nice and smooth throughout the entire process of digging in the snow and throwing it. I highly recommend this item.

However, after leaving it out and then using it on a warmer day, this rust colored water came pouring out of it. I saw the drips in the snow and thought I was bleeding but then I found the source to be the shovel. I am hoping the fluid does not stain the pavers and my clothing. If it is just rust, what does that say about how these fasteners will last the seasons?

UNFORTUNATLY THE DESIGN AND DURABILITY OF THE METAL EDGE BLADE DID NOT HOLD UP AFTER ONE HOUR OF SHOVELING. IT CAME OFF AND IS BURRIED IN A BIG SNOW PILE AROUND MY DRIVEWAY. VERY DISSAPOINTED.WHAT IS EQUALY DISSAPOINTING IS THE FACT THAT I TRIED TO CALL THEM AND WAS ON HOLD FOR 45 MINUTES BEFORE I HUNG UP AND DID NOT SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unique design The shovel arrived in a relatively small box that was incredibly light. I opened the box and it was modular and as stated light weight. The plastic in the shovel is more pliable than I had expected. I suspect that is part of the design so you do not get to over aggressive with it. The shovel works like a charm when it comes to light snow but is not for the crusty frozen stuff. The 2 handle design is fantastic, and saves your back once you get the knack of it. I would purchase it again even with knowing its limitations.

I understand everyone is saying it helps the back, but I need to know if you need to use more arm and shoulder strength to compensate or does the springy shovel compensate for the loss of using your back. I had very little strain on shoulders and arms, no bending, my drive way is 70 feet long, double wide, i'm 73 years old and wasn't tired after shoveling a 5 inch wet snow, best shovel i ever owned thank you Home Depot for carrying a great product.
