Rated 2 out of 5 by from great concept. needs improvements. this is a great concept. good design but: used 1 season 4 times, the central screws to hold the pipe get dangling and off even if tightened very hard. the plastic parts holding the slippery carpet won't stay flat and get mis shaped after 2 times of use. this thing gets heavy when all rods are attached. almost impossible to put on top of the rooftop. so need to keep two rods attached to make it possible to put on rooftop and then attach more if necessary. Rods should have some gripping aid through their length to avoid slipping in the hands.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for multi-story, low roof slope This is probably a good tool for a one story home with a steep roof, however it does not work for a 2 story home. The 30 ft pole pieces bend and don't allow you to put the needed pressure to go that high (you will just be reaching into the air). The company says it is a great tool for a multi-level house, but this is really not the case. Keep this in mind when looking at this product.

The "other" brand has rollers to prevent damage to shingles; Will the cutter on this model have the potential to damage an asphalt shingle? I like the fact the extension poles are aluminum, as I suspect they might be less "whippy" than fiberglass when fully extended...

Manufacturer states that SnowPeeler's glide pads are designed to protect your roof. The glide pads are made from UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) which is known for its high impact strength and smooth, near-frictionless characteristics. With a clearance of 2.5", you can rest assured that SnowPeeler will not damage asphalt shingles. In addition, SnowPeeler's commercial-grade aluminum sectional poles are much stronger and more effective than competitive snow rakes which use fiberglass. More physical energy is directed through the handle to the cutting blade when the handle is made of aluminum versus the bending (bowing) you'll experience with fiberglass.

How long is the slide and what material is the slide part made of?

Will it tear easily as the snow or parts of snow that has turned to ice shred it as it slides off the roof?

Manufacturer states that SnowPeeler Premium provides 2 snow slides. The slides are made from tear-resistant vinyl which accelerates the removal of snow from the roof. The15 ft. slide has a weighted tail which minimizes wind drift when used on low-pitched roofs and when working from the roof peak. The 10 ft. slide has an elastic pole attachment which minimizes wind drift when used on single story roofs as well as detached garages and car shelters.

Yes, works great, if you are rubbing slide against sheet metal screw heads or edge of corrugated roof, might need to reinforce plastic slide in center pole area, gorilla tape or glue gun works

will it work on solar panels

It will not clean all the snow, rather it leaves about an inch on your surface. You have to be strong to avoid damage: due to the weight of the tool, it's hard to manoeuvre precisely for a delicate job, and its head has hard plastic feet that slide on your surface. Otherwise OK.
