Rated 3 out of 5 by from O.K. in this age of pre-fab furniture Fairly easy to assemble (I did it myself in about 30 minutes with two screwdrivers) but the illustrations in the instructions are not that great. Specifically, one step warns you to keep the main piece in a certain direction but the picture does not differentiate what direction that actually is. So, the warning is kind of useless (keep the larger diameter holes of the main panel K toward the floor/bottom). Also, there are two different size "cams" in the hardware package - make sure you keep them straight. Sadly, there is no hardware to attach the headboard to the standard steel bed frame that I think most people have. There are screws provided to attach it to a platform bed but no nuts, bolts or washers for attaching to steel bed rails. If you want it bolted to your steel bed rails, you'll need nuts, bolts and washers.

The directions are awful and the screws do not go through the wood/particle board to engage with the other piece I am trying to attach. The wood/particle board is more like cement and the screws keep spinning without going in to the other wood in spite of how much pressure is applied. The wood should have pilot holes drilled on the pieces to facilitate the screws entering. I have been working on this item all day - 7 hours and I can not get the screws in the side posts to attach to the center of the headboard. THIS IS GOING BACK TO HOME DEPOT. I love the look of it, but very inferior quality.

Easy assembly - however, because my husband is a carpenter he was able to trim it down for the full size bed. Otherwise, you saw too much at the base where it attached to the frame. Also, use it with a platform rather than attaching to the rails - otherwise it's too flimsy and wobbles. For the money, it was a great addition. But probably should be used for queen only for those that don't have handy helper.

The illustrations in the instruction manual are not the best. Specifically, one step gives you a warning on which way a piece should be placed in but the picture does not provide enough detail to actually see what direction it truly belongs in so the warning is fairly useless (keep the large holes in piece k oriented toward the botton/floor). Along with that you need to remember that this kit has two different sized cams--make sure you get the right sized one in the right hole. Also, this item does not include hardware to attach it to a steel bed frame -- which is what most of us usually have. There are screws to attach it to a platform bed but that's all. So, you'll need additional nuts, bolts and washers if you expect to attach this to a steel bed frame.

How does this fit a full or a queen bed?

There are pre-drilled holes on both sides of the bed, one set the width of a full metal frame and the other for a queen -- the queen pre-drilled holes are on the very outside post. There is a short board that attaches to the inside of the left and right outside boards. It has pre-drilled holes. This board is what attaches to the full-size frame. If you look at the attached picture, you can see the holes for the queen frame. Just to the left of that are the holes (which you cannot see) where I attached the full-size frame.

You probably could. I'm thinking it would be best to pre-drill then install the screws. You'd want to cover the screws with something so they don't show. If you screwed it in near the part where it wouldn't show (where the mattress would hit), you would have to put another board behind it. The top ledge is NOT flush with the back of the headboard, but rather extends about 1/2" towards the WALL. There is another board that is about 1/2" thick that runs horizontally across the headboard, but only goes down as far as the top of the mattress. I wish I could add an image to show you, but I can't move the bed by myself on the carpet!
