Rated 3 out of 5 by from Supply & demand or cash grab? Reliable product- I gave it 5 stars the last time I received a request for my opinion. Steadily increasing cost of copper, watched this product go from approx $115 at the end of 2019 to current $236 per reel. Not happy about about this. Especially when the product has a date of when it was made. So I think it has to do with supply chains and what the market will pay and not the direct cost of copper. I hope the cost per reel will come back down to reflect the cost of copper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply shocking! Do you have electricity that you wished was some place else? Then this is the product for you! No more carrying your electricity around in a bucket, and spilling half of it by the time you get where you're going. Simply send it down your new NMD90 copper wire, and be done with it!

Is this cable acceptable for outdoor use?

Asked by: AlexO
Hi Alex. NMD90 cables are for use in normally dry locations as explained in CEC and are not intended to be used outdoors. We recommend type NMWU cable for installation in locations that are outdoors with exposure to moisture or for direct burial. Please refer to the CEC for more detailed information on non-metallic sheathed cables. Hope this helps.

Is this flexible? I am looking for a cable which is very flexible just like extension cord.

Asked by: Setu
This #14 cable is intended for house wiring; like all such cables smaller than around #4, the conductor is solid, so it won't be as flexible as you want. However, #14 stranded cord is available at HD. I suggest you ask an employe who covers the Electrical are (if you can find one!) who can cut it to length and select a plug that fits a standard outlet.

This wire does not come on a metal spool, and I find it extremely difficult to unravel it without it becoming totally tangled. Am I missing something?

Asked by: Ralph450
Usually you need to uncoil it from the middle out and keep the plastic wrap untouched as best as you can.

will this wire be good enough for a 4 plug outlet and 2 lights the plugs will be used to run power tools and other heavy duty tools and what kind of breaker fuse would i need i have a free 10 and a 20 in my breaker panel already ????

Asked by: Seph
@Seph, 14-gauge conductors are rated for 15 amps. You would need to ensure the tools you were using did not exceed 15 amps. Those tools should have information about how many amps they require. You would need to use a 15amp breaker for protection. You could upsize to a 12-2 Romex that would allow for 20amps and use a 20-amp breaker. It really depends on the amount of wattage or amps are required to run the tools you plan to use and select your wire size and breaker size accordingly based off code. If the tools have the amount of wattage they use, you can divide that number by the voltage and get the amperage.  Consumer Support

Why is there a picture of this cable being buried in conduit when in fact you are not allowed see use this cable in any exterior application? Seems very misleading.

Asked by: LtFirefighter
You could use romex in conduit if it is on surface of interior wall as in a laundry room. Bear in mind, just because you can do it, it isn't a recommended practice. Interior wiring should always be behind drywall. If exposed, armour coated wire, AC, should be used. For exterior use, NMWU (Non Metallic Wet Underground) wire should be used in the least. It has a PVC coating that is waterproof. All wiring and boxes (junction, switch and outlet) must be waterproof as well.

is it okay to use it in Attic. I saw it is not recommended to use outside. but I need to fish some wire from attic, above the insulation, so it is technically outside.

Asked by: Sammy
No problem using this wire. As far as I am aware the statement outside means to me underground as in buried. We have been using this wire under decks, hot tubs etc with no problems and run in conduit if thought necessary ie if exposed to water.

can this cable be free buried.

Asked by: enzo
No, the CEC does not allow NMD to be buried. It is only suitable for dry locations. NMWU can be buried.
