Rated 1 out of 5 by from Strips material being drilled into. Just finishing up a deck project with composite decking using these screws where hidden fasteners can't be used. Screwing composite decking into new SPF pressure treated 2x boards using variable speed adjustable torque drill. About 20% of the screws stripped the wood when the head of the screw touched the surface of the composite board. This prevented the screw from countersinking fully into decking. Will have to see if these screws eventually work their way out of the board. As it is these screws are not flush and will be a literal pain to step on with bare feet. Also forget trying to remove any screw from composite once the decking material bonds with the screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Composite color match screws They match the decking perfectly and I did not countersink. they are tricky if you hit a screw in the framing under as they would leave an ugly hole if withdrawn. The look is perfect on fascia especially. A little hard to start in the composite but I was very happy with finished product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very cool fastening system When used with the installer tool the create an very discrete fastening for TREX deck boards. Practice on a scrap to make sure the tool is adjusted well. Once installed they blend right in - you can see them if you are looking for them, otherwise they are nearly invisible. We found one or two snapped off when over tightened so don't do that. If you do not use this brand of fasteners I believe it may void your TREX warranty. It would be nice if it was a stock item at Home Depot and not a special order.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These look great if they are countersunk properly. But it is not easy to do. I pre drilled the boards for easier installation. Here is the issue: some screws simply did not drive properly even while following the instructions. They would just stick out and become a pain to fully countersink. Some just stripped the wood below the deck board resulting in a permanently stuck screw that is sticking out. Not sure what to do about that. Any tips? Also note that if you user an impact driver to drive the screws, it will scratch off the coloured finish inside the screw head which defeats the purpose. The top of the head still has the finish but on a darker screw, the scratched on the inside of the screw head are very visible. 3 stars because the product is good when it works, but it definitely doesn't work reliably.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to countersink in composite decking These screws look great when countersunk. Unfortunately, even using the available countersink bit, there can be tricky to countersink. I found that pre-drilling was helpful but it is important to continue screwing until the head is countersunk. If you stop before it is fully countersunk, it is very difficult to complete the task: the screw refuses to go in further and a broken head is the likely result—very frustrating. Very expensive as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Is it possible they strip because too sharp? These screws would commonly strip the wood out before the head had sunk fully. I didn't have this problem with the cheaper brand that is fully color coated. Then when stripped, reversing would not remove them, and I'm stuck with a head out of the composite I have to get plyers to lift while reversing. Pretty over priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right part for the job When you spend extra money to make the job look good, don't cheap out on finishing touches. Spend the few extra dollars and have something that will last and look good for years.
Date published: 2023-12-21
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Composite screws The screws ripped thru the composite creating a bump on top of the boards. They are super difficult to insert also.
