Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baseboard heater used in insulated workshop/shed Works great, heats up an insulated 10X16 shed when needed, going from outdoor ambient temperature (0C and below) to 20C in good time (under two hours). Nice and quiet.

Can this heater be electrically connected on the left hand side ? And is 2000 watt 240 the same as my old heater at 1500 watt 220 ? In other words this heater will not overload a 20 amp fuse system ? Victor.

Asked by: Victor
You can connect to either side. It's made so that you just make sure the internal wires are marratted together at the opposite end from the one you connect to. The internal wires should then be unconnected at the end you are connecting the line conductors to. Polarity is unimportant, just connect the two line conductors to each unconnected internal wire. As far as the breaker, a pair of 15A tandem breakers (or tandem fuses) are all that is required. Note, TANDEM breakers or fuses are required for 240V. You will be connecting two hot conductors to the baseboard, and the Electrical Code requires that all hot conductors be protected by either a fuse or breaker. For amperage, use the basic power formula, P= ExI. Solving for I: I = P/E therefore, I = 2000W/240V = 8.3A. The maximum constant load for a 15A breaker is 12A. A 15A breaker is more than enough.

Our house was designed with heaters below the windows. I'd like to upgrade to newer/more efficient heaters . Would this heater be appropriate for installation under a window?

Asked by: MomBuilder
Baseboard heaters are always an excellent option for installation under windows. This creates a warm air barrier that rises up against the window and insulates us from the cold radiated from the glass in the windows. The product that you selected will do an excellent job.
