Rated 3 out of 5 by Jonathan from Looks great and my little girl loves it! Southampton arrived on two pallets. I read reviews prior to purchase and thought to myself; there is no way this simple structure could possibly take more than two qualified people eight hours to assemble. Hmmmm. I eventually call in reinforcements to assist, as I couldn’t have my 4yr old daughter without a playground christmas morning. If you’re reading this and thinking you can do better… give it a shot. We had 44 total man hours into the project. Its also important to note that all three of us have construction/industrial backgrounds. Just minutes before the sun came up Christmas morning and still didn’t complete project. Almost complete, only lacking curly slide. I would strongly suggest to all capable of very basic stick framing to purchase slides, swings, and rock thingeys and build your own setup without using this kit. We spent hours drilling and bolting cheap cedar/yellow pine 1x3 together to create what should have been a simple 4x4. Why not just send a 4x4 the correct length instead of shipping a box full of “headache?” Stick frame your own with treated lumber and purchased slide/swing components will likely be a wash on the cost side, but the structure will go up much faster and surely more rigid. Structurally, its fine for a child. Christmas morning my little girl wanted me to follow her up the rock wall but quickly aborted mission when I heard support panels crackle when carrying my body weight(170lbs).

End product seems fine, although some screws were a tad too long and start to poke out the other side if you put them in all the way. Biggest issue - parts and time. Had to call the company twice to ask for missing parts, and each time they sent a box in about a week, but didn't send everything I asked for. Eventually gave up and bought the last few bolts and screws myself, and cut a couple extra boards down to size - they did end up sending a bunch of stuff I didn't need, so there were a few extra boards, and now we have some extra swings, etc. Green parts are not cedar, but "Chinese Fir" according to the half-english half-chinese invoice still tucked between some of them. As others have mentioned, wood splits very easily, and is also pretty soft. On the plus side, that also means it's lighter if you're assembling it yourself. Took a ton of time, multiple people, and even if it hadn't been for the waits for more parts it still would have been a good few days' solid work. Don't believe their assembly time!

Rated 4 out of 5 by kmmom from Great playset for my kids. We got this playset on sale and Home Depot had the best price. My husband is very handy and it took him nearly 3 1/2 straight days to assemble almost entirely by himself. The wood did split a tiny bit in spots when he drilled in the screws, but he did not predrill the holes. My 2 year old loves everything about it, but will not go down the tunnel slide. And since it changes directions, it's difficult for an adult to go down it so we can't ride down it with her. However, I'm sure in a year or so she'll like going down it more. Good quality and it was delivered quickly. Happy with the purchase and hope our kids enjoy it for years to come as it was pretty pricey, especially after we added the rubber mulch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by simoncat from Impossible to build and play in ONE day!!!! When it's complete it looks great but, it takes a lot of experience and patience to put together. Directions are VERY hard to follow. It took 3 days NOT one day as stated on the outside of the box. We saved a lot of money by putting it together ourselves but, if we had to do it all over again we'd have someone else put it together. Our daughter and her friends love it and that's all that matters.

Went to the high end stores, read reviews online etc.. decided to go with this set. it's comparable to the high end boxed sets that sell for much more. I built 90% of this on my own. It took a long time! I would estimate around 20 hours or so. You will need help putting the roof on and with the tube slide. You will need to pre drill nearly every hole, especially on the 1X4's. If you do not have a level surface, it will be a struggle later in the assmebly. I used the large swing "A" frame boards as a platform to build the main structure on. I leveled the boards and built the frame on it, then lifted the frame off. This put me with 1/8" to square at the end. Bottom line the kids love it, it is very sturdy ( I was able to stand on the top platform to finish assembly with no trouble and I am bigger than average!), and i feel like we will get years of service out of it.

Instead of sending 4x4's or 2x4's, the kit included hundreds of small pieces that had to be measured and then screwed together to make the necessary 4x4's etc. None of the pieces were labeled - we were lucky that all those involved are in the construction business and knew how to use a tape!!!! Overall, the kids (11, 4 yr triplets, & 3) love the "playground"!!! So it was more then worth our time and effort
