Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for Skoolie Conversion! I bought this to use in my short bus conversion and it was very easy to work with and definitely made a big difference right away with the amount of noise in the bus! Definitely a useful product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good choice in underlayment. This was a great find. I used it under luxury vinyl plank flooring and over an old hardwood floor that had a lot of draft from underneath. It was easy to cut and lay and just required a bit of tape. We haven't gone through a winter yet, but think it will really warm up the room compared to before. The floor feels comfortable and warm, and it is quiet.

Can this be used in a car? I’d so, what side goes on the floor/metal side, the blue or the foil?

Asked by: Flushed42
I used this product for soundproofing my walls. I put this material between two layers of 1/2" drywall. It worked minimally. I would not recommend that you use this for a car. A better product for that would be mass loaded vinyl. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Xtrm-Ply-SoundSafe-Mass-Loaded-Vinyl-MLV-4-5-ft-x-10-ft-Soundproofing-Acoustic-Barrier-Roll-7102-11054-10/304268301

Would this product prevent / reduce the radiated heat from a metal gazebo roof? I plan to place the material on the inside of the gazebo, right against the roof, and held in place using magnets. Thx.

Asked by: DanP
No it won't. The silver side can reflect the sun light if you place it on top of the metal roof, but it won't do anything when you put it inside. It does have some R value (< 5) due to the the foam layer. If you turn the silver side pointing down, you might have some heat reflected back to you during the colder months from your fire pit, BBQ or a radiant heater.

Can you put carpet right on top of the underlayment or would you have to put something in between ? Thank you

Asked by: Trish1531
Carpet can go over top. This product works as both a vapor barrier and insulation.

Is this Product flammable ? at what temperature ? Is it hazarduous-free ? Is there insurance protection ?

Asked by: Metatarso
Product is treated for flame retardant but is NOT fire proof and will burn if exposed to open flame for more than 15 mins. Surface temperature tolerance is around 145 degrees Celsius. I do not understand what you mean by HAZARDOUS FREE. Fire will produce noxious smoke if ignited . There is no insurance coverage of any kind, apart from replacement of production damaged product if applicable .

does it help to put underneath hydronic 0.5 inch pex floor heating? what is Rvalue?

Asked by: Paul
I don't know your circumstances so I can't say. It is intended to reduce noise under laminates. I am trying it out on the ceiling and walls of a basement bathroom to see if it reduces internal noises. It is about 1/8 of an inch think so has no R value. I am using 1 in. blue styrofoam (R5 ) under 3/4 plywood over the cement floor before installing electric in floor heating under ceramic tile,
