Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not recommended for flooring above unheated spaces On the positive side, it was easy to install and adds a bit of cushioning to the flooring. However, I gave it three stars for 2 reasons: 1) It's not as warm as we had expected based on it's advertisement. We thought it was at first but then the colder weather hit and we noticed a real difference (the room is over an unheated garage). 2) In the middle of the roll there was a damaged section about eight feet long that we had to cut out (wasting time and material in the process). I made the manufacturer aware but to no avail. Would I buy it again? Probably not for a situation such as ours where the room was above an unheated garage. It may be more suitable for a basement floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good underlayment for all types of flooring Very good underlayment. Installed it on my basement concrete floor for thermal purposes under electric heating system and tile. Haven't finished installing the tile yet so I can't tell if it really works. The only thing that I didn't like is that 1 of the rolls came a little bit defective, the width wasn't the same at some points varying almost 1/2". Nothing that I couldn't fix. Overall I do recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy installation Easy to install. Seems to provide good sound barrier. Was used with LV plank flooring between 2 rental units (lower/upper) in effort to cut down on noise transfer. Fairly strong odor upon initial installation despite open windows. We would use it again if replacing flooring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product / Poor Quality Control at Factory Overall a really good product. The only issue I have is the quality control at the factory. Poor consistency in the width of the product. Width of the 48" roll varied from anywhere from 49" to 47" at times Especially as I got closer to the center of each roll. Had to get creative to ensure full coverage. It definitely deadens the sound transfer from room to room. Noticeable the moment its put in place. I used this under drywall over top the insulation as an additional acoustic barrier. Used a proper sheathing tape for this application and staple to studs of course. I essentially used it as one would a vapor barrier. So far so good. Hope it helps thermally as it suggests as well. Time will tell

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used in basement This was a great product that we used in our basement. Easy to roll out and stick to each row, easy to cut to fit and took very little time to do. I would recommend. The only reason why I’m going it a four is because, for a basement, it’s not as warm as I was hoping it would be (we put laminate flooring over the underlay). It’s still a great product, especially for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blocked out the furnace sound We have a VERY old and LOUD furnace and we succeeded in sound insulating a small bedroom in the basement on the other side of the furnace room. Wish I used it in my whole basement for sound insulation. We just fixed it behind the drywall on the studs with a staple gun and nails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Great product, used in the basement and main floor under laminate in our home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for sound blocking as well. I used this on my basement floor (bedroom with en-suite) as well try out the sound blocking I put it along the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. The floor is warm and the sound blocking is wonderful! I have an office right above I can't tell what's going in that room (only faint sound of water running when someone takes a shower). I don't know about how warm it will keep the room as haven't gone through a winter yet.

Can this material be “glued” on the side of uninsulated garage to keep warm or cool? Thank you

Asked by: Heidi
The thermal quality is not optimal...shouldn't buy for thermal properties only. Not suited to insulate a wall, especially not in a cold weather area, use foam polyurethane or similar products for insulation.

We are putting a new ceiling in the living room. We want a sound deadening product we can put between the new ceiling and the floor of the room above. We're trying to expose beams so want a barrier that is as thin as possible while still doing the job.

Asked by: JStaples
We used it as a sound barrier for a wall that had a furnace on the other side and it worked beautifully. We had to of-course cover the whole wall, but it's better than anything out there. That Roxul stuff is useless

Can this be used on top of a vapour barrier on a crawl space floor and if so which side up?

Asked by: Gary108
Yes- In fact Thermoquiet can be used as the vapor Barrier itself. In a crawl space silver side should face up to retain heat in the structure, Good Luck, HC
