Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect planters These are beautiful, stable planters. I love that they are made of recycled material and will be safe outside over the winter. Keep in mind as they are made of rubber, they will smell, but since they are outdoor planters it dissipates in a couple of days.

Their location is outdoors or at best a basic garden shed so it will be exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The drainage/watering feature is helpful, especially with the droughts we've been experiencing, in sustaining the plants.

I see the reservoir but how do you fill it with water? I don’t see a hole either at the top of the planter or near the bottom of the planter.

Hello, if you are using the planter outdoors, please remove the drain plug. The drain plug removes the excess water that is not necessary for the self-watering aspect of our planters. There will be some water left, although this will allow the plants roots to go through our reservoir and reach the water in the water reservoir.

Hi. I’m looking at the Serentiy Self Watering planter and would like to know the volume of water and the volume of soil it holds.

It holds a lot of soil and quite an amount of water, making this very very heavy and stable. However I am not at all convinced that it is wicking up the water. There was no wick involved (like my indoor planter, made by another company) and no pvc pipe inserted so that one could add water regularly (as I've seen in other self watering planters). I treated it just the same as all my other outdoor planters and watered it daily last summer. But it looks good and is very stable.
