Rated 5 out of 5 by from NICELY FEATURED Exactly as described - good value (lots of features) for the price re: mow ‘n stow (space saving), personal pace self propelled (adjustable speed control), quick conversion (from mulch to bagging), rear propulsion (no slipping on wet or uneven turf), easy starting (typically 2 pulls for mine) and large bagging capacity. While it has the ‘no oil change’ feature I will continue to change the oil routinely (as I haven’t been convinced that oil doesn’t get dirty). The only discerning situation with this mower is that it gives you the suggestion it wants to stall out if you lift the front wheels off the ground (say, to turn) or accidentally bump into something with the front end - but it never has.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NICE MOWER! I bought it 2 years ago. It cuts very clean, does not leave uncut grass. Mulch's top notch! Bags very well. The stow and go is an awesome feature! It would be nice to adjust blade height from 1 or 2 levers not 4. But it does have plenty of blade height adjustment.1.25 to about 4 inch which is very nice.I also like the leaver on the back to switch from bag to recycle or mulch, no plug to mess with! I do find the engine to be under powered, but starts on the first or second pull all the time! I also find if I travel over bumpy terrain quickly the engine starts to stumble like it is out of fuel. Overall I like this mower ,I think It has lots of potential.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Happy! Pros: Personal pace works perfectly Good looking(nice colour) 22 inch cut and lightweight Cons: Briggs EXI 163cc it's not quieter. Hesitates at times on a slope. Side discharge opening too small. Bagging - clippings manage to escape from around the bag frame and housing. Conclusion: if you really want a Toro mower then find one with a Honda engine. I have a 12 year old yardworks push mower with a Honda clone engine173cc (powermore) that will kick this Briggs to the curb. The engine has never given me a problem and is very powerful, to bad it's not rear wheel driven. Hope this helps you with your decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toro 22 Inch Recycler SmartStow PersonalPace Mower If you’re looking for a unique mower, look no further. This mower met all my expectations, minimal storage space due to its SmartStow feature, starts first pull every time, and the Personal Pace variable speed feature is excellent. I have a movement disability and the Personal Pace allows me to mow at my own pace instead of being dragged around like other self propelled mowers. The wheels being located inside the blade radius allows for mowing up against curbs, foundations etc. All that’s missing is a reverse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower Very impressed by this mower. The power is great, gets through thick or wet grass with ease, I use the mulching feature and I’m happy with the deposited clippings - they don’t clump up, lawn looks great afterward. The smart stow is a great feature, it’s so nice to stand it up out of the way. Small downside is reading your oil level after it’s been upright. The personal pace feature is pretty cool, it can be jumpy when you’re getting used to it, but it’s nice for corners, you can start off with one hand. It’s better than on/off self propelled mowers. I compared prices between models and other brands as well and I’m very happy I got all these features for the price I paid. Purchased online and delivered to local store, the process was quick and easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built with nice features A quality built mower, solid steel deck and good Briggs & Stratton engine. Powerful for 163 cc, does a real nice job of mulching without leaving unsightly clumps or windrows of grass (good blade and under deck design). Really like personal pace feature, really does adapt to your pace. First mower I’ve owned with self-propel, it was easy to get used to. Mower feels a lot heavier when pulling it backwards. Engine starts easily. A snap assembly. Setup for rear discharge is easy & bag is simple to attach/remove. Smartstow would be helpful if you have limited storage space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I've only used the mower a half dozen times, but so far so good. It powers through grass with ease and goes up slopes easily (thanks to self-propelled RWD). The only complaint I have is that when I added oil initially I could not tell how much was added and how much to keep adding because the dipstick just showed a streak of oil all along its length (yes I was on flat ground). Another thing: when storing the mower vertically, due to the design, the underside points outwards (i.e. shows). It would have been better if the top showed instead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good mower, poor service Mower works great, however it was broken when i got it. a wheel fell off due to a broken component. home depot was difficult to deal with. in the end i brought the mower to a local torro retailer for repair under warranty

Is it safe for this mower to pull it back?

Asked by: Abraham
Yes, it’s just like pulling a normal (ie no forward drive mechanism) lawnmower backwards.  I did notice quite a difference in feel of weight of mower between it being driven forward, and when I had to pull it backwards.  Takes a little getting used to, but quickly was fine.  I did notice that this mower has a heavy solid metal deck, so it was a little heavier than my previous mower to pull backwards.

I have shoulder and back problems so I was wondering how difficult is it to start? I had a craftsman and I would have to pull it so many times I'd be in so much pain.

Asked by: Rachelle
Mine starts on the first pull.

Asked by: Abraham
It doesn't turn off but you could just push the metal bar .

can a thatcher(power rake) blade be attached to this machine to thatch lawn in spring to get rid of moss.

Asked by: Bill
You could but I would not because it has no throttle to slow it down it would throw rocks as well as be to aggressive on the grass, use a rake and then pick up with the mower!
