Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works, but I don't like it. I purchased this snow blower this summer and used it for the first time today. I am somewhat disappointed in the quality and operation of this unit. The worst thing is that the engine shuts off whenever I go over a bump - even a small one! The ridge from cleaning my car off before moving it is an example. I can restart the engine by priming it first. My guess is that the carburetor is sensitive to bumps and injects air into the line, or just cuts off the gas when it gets jostled. The blower has shear pins that can be put through the axle and the wheel, or just through the wheel depending on whether you want self propulsion or free wheeling mode. The blower came with one wheel configured for free wheeling. (Why would anyone buy this blower and not use self propulsion???) The shear pin has a ring on it - spring loaded such that you can't insert the pin through the wheel and the axle without pinching your finger pretty hard!! There is no engine speed control up near the handles. I like to be able to adjust the speed based on the snow depth, weight, etc. It's a bunch of little design issues like this that turn me off when it comes to this machine. I should have spent the money and bought the Honda. Some of my dislikes will disappear once I get used to it: The plastic chute sounds like you're running over gravel when you hit anything - like road salt. The tines keep going as long as you keep your hand on the clutch for the wheels - I'm used to the opposite arrangement. It does seem to have enough power and throws the snow well when it is running. I guess I'm just a tool snob! I like a tool that impresses you at every turn, not one that disappoints you in little ways every time you use it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Be Warned I purchased this snow blower last year 2013. When I was finished using it for the snow season I prepped the snow blower for storage. I followed the instructions from TORO and added a stabilizer to new gas and ran it through to engine until it went dry. This year 2014 I tried to start the snow blower. It now will not run. Repairman said the model has a rubber float in the carb. The stabilizer will swell the float and cut off fuel to the carb. The interesting part of this problem is that it is longer under warranty because I put the stabilizer in the gas. If Toro put it in the gas the product is under warranty and they would repair the problem. BE WARNED. Check the gear case for oil. I found mine empty. NO OIL IN GEAR CASE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy The snow blower was relatively easy to assemble. It is my first snow blower, so I think it is a good deal. There are a number of actions you need to take in order to ensure that the blower starts (2-3 switches). CONS - Relatively Heavy - Not too easy manuvering PROS - Start is relatively easy (if you set the switches to the right positions) - Powerful - Self Propeller makes life easy even on a steep ramp

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance exceeded expectations! I researched every make and model and compared them side-by-side. For the price, it was the best purchase. Two factors that sold me were the Briggs & Stratton engine and the gear box. There are no shear pins, which means I do not have to worry when I am in the middle of a snow drift and the blower is near max capacity. In my opinion, energy and moral are significantly reduced when those break (its a safely feature) and I have to stop and replace them. It is a work horse and routine maintenance is straight forward. In my opinion, you shouldn't need heated handles if proper gloves are worn. However, if you need a spotlight then shop the larger Toro models that do, because it is a great line of machines.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's A Beast Got the unit towards the end of the snow season as my Toro 221E works but does not have enough power on my long narrow driveway. Pros - Shoots snow very far - Goes through heavy snow banks - Will go through ice - Sheering bolts hold up well - Chute pitch is adjustable - No Fumes (only use TruFuel 4 cycle) Negative - Bogs down in super heavy stuff. (Gear speed may be the culprit on this one) - 1st gear seems to go a bit fast as my previous Murray Ultra 1st gear went very slow - Seeing a few spots of rust after 2 uses - Does not handle slush very well, but then again very few 2-stage units can I was apprehensive on getting a snow blower with a plastic chute but it seems to work very well, even without applying silicone spray. Overall happy with the purchase, has a lot of power, so much so I need to be careful on where I shoot the snow as I nearly buried my neighbor’s car in their driveway. Clears the mess our local town plow leaves at the foot of my driveway fairly easy. I would recommend this unit to someone who is looking to clear a good amount of snow without many hassles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Assembly directions terrible. Still unable to assemble. Too heavy to remove from box alone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems a little light weight. I purchased this last year and it starts dependably and runs well but seems a little light compared to the one from a different manufacturer that it replaced. After a few uses the chute did not rotate smoothly. I had to jam the control stick back and forth. It runs a little too fast at it's slowest speed. It also seems a little too light and tends to ride up over packed snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toro Power Max 724 OE 24 Snow Blower. Very impressed by this machine; really easy to set up took me 30 minutes. Started on first try, both the electric and the pull cord. The controls are ergonomically exceptional, handling is smooth. My wife loves it.
