Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tackles Maine winters without a hitch! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This snowblower is awesome. I've had the orange ones for 40 years but read so many good reviews of the Power Max series that I thought I would give it a try. I am not disappointed. It has gone through one pretty bad Maine winter with no problems. Solid packed wet drifts from the city plow and the end of the driveway were no match. Starts so reliably on one or two pulls so I haven't even used the electric start yet. I would have given it 5 stars, but I miss the handwarmers and the one touch joystick is sometimes hard to aim while you are in motion. You have to get it in position and then snap your hand off quickly or the up/down motion moves when you release it. Not a big deal though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this machine! It has the heft and bulk to do 3 ft drifts at the end of the driveway after the plow comes by. The wheels are big, which is the key. It is nicely balanced and very solidly built. There is nothing cheap here. I had a Craftsman for 15 years and it was good, this one is GREAT! It throws snow very far and the "joystick" handle enables you to pinpoint the direction of the discharge. Excellent choice. You cannot go wrong with this. It's been super with 12 inches of heavy, wet snow and incredible with 23 inches of light snow. I clear my house and three neighbors, plus the sidewalks, fire hydrant and mailbox. Yes, this machine allows me to be the "Hero of the 'Hood"!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Newer isn't better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last winter to replace my 2003 Toro Power Max. What a mistake! The quick chute only holds one setting. In less than one winter the cable to drive the impellers broke (never had to replace this in 17 yrs with the other). This year the second reverse gear decided not to work. I would run far away!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Annoying break-downs Bought in 2020 and first Winter went well but during the second season 2021, the starter cord broke because of rough edges in the little hole for the cord in the starter case. Next, the auger drive belt just disintegrated and the price for a new one from Toro is ridiculous. This is just a simple L3 V-belt and available in Automotive stores for far less. The "special" Toro belt lasted for one and a half seasons. Hope that nothing major happens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid This blower has been nothing but junk. The drive linkage broke two weeks after purchase, the chute freezes up and won't lock, and the throttle is flimsy. This is the third season with this machine and it's been in the shop two out of three.

The engine is manufactured by Loncin a large Mototcycle manufacturer overseas to Toro specs. Loncin is a USA owned company though I believe. Their engines have an excellent reputation.

Asked by: Md
You absolutely can add hand warmers to the 928. Just need to order grips, wire harness and switch from the 1028 parts diagram and do it yourself for under $90.00. Engine and electrical are almost identical!!!

Does the back edge of the "snow collection box" go to the ground? I have a 750 foot long asphalt driveway and I do not want to leave 1/2 inch of snow along the whiole thing?
Asked by: Bob
With two stage snow blowers leveraging skid shoes and a metal scrapper, they are intentionally designed to leave a very light dusting of snow on a driveway. This also is a requirement when clearing a lose driveway, that includes gravel or aged asphalt. You can adjust the skid shoes and scrapper to have a narrower tolerance, removing as much snow as possible, however the auger will never engage with the ground, therefore it won’t sweep it clear line a single stage snow blower is designed to do.
