Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lawnmower I've ever owned I'm super satisfied with my toro mower. I've owned it for about 10 years now and it's still in great shape. It always starts up and has never quit on me. It cuts grass nice and evenly, it's powerful, and I can cut very tall grass with and it manages just fine. It's very handy that I can adjust the cutting height, so I can use the highest height for very tall grass. I don't remember how much I bought it for exactly because it was a long time ago, one thing I can remember for sure is that it was pretty expensive, but it's definitely worth the price. I've never had any problems with it. I think this mower will serve me for many years to come I hope. This is also the very first mower I've ever owned. Never owned any more. I highly recommend this mower. Go and buy one now or something.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed by the Toro Name I've had a Honda push mower for 10 years, and while it was rusting out, it ran like a beast. Last year at the end of the summer I decided to bite the dust and go for a new mower. I decided to go with Toro over battery because the Toro name and quality that is supposed to come with it. Since the first mow this mower has had nothing but issues even with brand new oil and brand new premium gas. The mower chugs, stalls, and blows smoke. I called one of Toro's authorized repair dealers who told me to keep mowing for a bit longer to see if it just needed to burn up the new oil. The problem still persisted. That same dealer ended up taking my mower in at the end of the season and said they did a repair under warranty. By the time I got it back we already had snow. This year I started up the mower and the same problem is occurring. After calling Toro they told me to reach out to a different dealer for a repair. The other dealer in my area - without even looking at the mower - told me that it's a dirty carburetor and that they would charge me $200 not covered by warranty to do the repair. For a brand new $500 mower I should not have experienced so many issues already. At this point I have lost faith in the "good" Toro name and wish I had purchased a battery powered in retrospect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good mower, fuel efficient, needs better bag Good mower. Works well, does what it’s supposed to do. Self-drive is a bit fast for those with reduced mobility. Uses a lot less gas than our old self-propelled Briggs mower; in part because this one is a lot lighter. 4-stars because the bag feels very flimsy, and it’s is hard to find a replacement online. As soon as I find them, I’m going to buy two backups, because I don’t see this bag lasting more than a couple seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mulching I use my lawn mower mainly for mulching. I chose this model because it was rated as very good for mulching by Consumer Report and I found that it is excellent for that fonction. Overall, I was pleased. It was easy to assemble and it started on the first pull. The only negative is that it is hard to see the oil level.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built Seems good so far, much easier to mow my bumpy lawn than with a push mower. Front wheel drive is the way to go, just lift the front up when turning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Would have given this mower a 5 however they do not bag well. Our son owns the same mover as us and he has the same complaint, terrible bagger. Been using this mower (22" (56 cm) High Wheel (20371) ) for many years and it generally starts first pull even for the first of year use. Variable speed walk behind works great. Powers through the lawn just fine but the bagging issue is a big one, it appears it does not have a good lift to the grass and packs up quickly at the front of the bag.

my toro want start

Asked by: 5222
I was lucky to find mower on the curb. I picked it up didn't start, I check spark plug, filter and fresh new gas but nothing. As soon I disassemble carburetor and clean it. Place it back on and start like a champ. Honestly I find in mint condition. The reason for the carb many people leave entire winter season with gas instead drain it and turn it on until the mower dies. Now days gasoline has corn ethanol which turns to water. Leaves a little residue of oil that clogs the lines and little exits for fuel to travel in the carburetor. I wish corn ethanol wasn't made because is one the reasons machines fail. Which many dealers prefer it because is business to have clients keep coming back. Same as automobile fuel filters, fuel pumps, fuel injectors and fuel lines, head valves, then you have misfiring codes and or catalytic converter fail or o2 sensors. Once again check carburetors and clean them or drain the entire fuel system for winter season. There is YouTube videos how to disassemble carburetors.

While cutting the lawn, I ran the front of the mower under a bush and it immediately started to run at a very low rpm and now stays at that spee

Asked by: Kjk
There's a small spring attached to a bendable plate. Probably a limb, etc. bent to plate or damaged the spring. The plate can be bent back up, increasing the speed but if you don't have a rpm gauge to check the speed, you could cause it to run to fast and damage engine or void warranty.

is the engine a Briggs or a kohler? You list both.

Asked by: Soledad
Model 20378 is a Kohler. When buying, check the box model number to the store shelf information. It would have been easy for me to take wrong box because the boxes all look the same with no engine description on them. Even with knowing this, that's the first thing I checked when taking out of box.

Runs at a full 3000 RPM constantly immediately when started with no variable speed--where is the speed adjustment?

Nothing in the manual covers constant too fast and when there is no speed variation.
Asked by: Tony
"Variable speed" refers to the self-propel speed, you know how fast you want the mower to move as you follow behind, not the speed of the motor.

What does refurbished recycler mean

Asked by: Bob
It means that the mower was either sold as new and returned to Home Depot, or a defect was found before selling it. If refurbished the mower is cleaned up tested and resold. It may have some wear and tear such as scratches, but should be mechanically the same as new. The one I bought was never run, but the handle was bent, I straightened it and it was like new. Of course Home Depot will accept it back if there are issues after you get it home.
