Rated 4 out of 5 by from I returned the Ego Select cut mower for this Toro... I returned the Ego Select cut mower for this Toro Recycler and I can personally say it cuts hands down better. The Ego was plastic and had an uneven cut even with 2 blades. The Toro is a steel deck with a single blade that simply cuts like a traditional mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little expensive but it does the job I get about 2-3 mows out of a charge. I have a standard plot for a front and back yard, maybe slightly on the small side. But I get 2 mows of front and back yards on a single charge. I might have gotten a little more today to bring it about 2.5. It quiet. Sounds like the hum of a toy drone. It is smooth and doesn't vibrate like a gas mower. It is light and clean. If you can afford it, it is worth it. However the spare batteries is where the cost comes in. I am worried about the long life. The price of a battery is the price of a gas mower that can last your entire life. The mower certainly will but unsure about the battery. That is the true test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Mower I wanted a battery mower with the power, quality and build of a gas mower. I had a recycler gas Toro for 12 years. It was a great machine but I was tired of messing with gas, oil, air filters, and spark plugs so I purchased this in April 2020. After the first couple of uses, I decided to purchase a second battery. My yard is a quarter acre and, during the spring, the grass gets high and thick so one battery did not cut it. I wanted to wait to comment on this machine until I had a season of use under my belt. Truthfully, this machine exceeded my expectations. This mower is so easy to use; push a button and lay the engage bar and the mower instantly starts. No priming or pulling a start cord. The cut is better then my previous mower and the self-pace rear wheel drive is perfect for the speed I walk. The only issue I had with this machine was an acorn shell become embedded in the RWD pulley and belt which required me removing the pulley guards off the bottom of the machine to remove the jam. I also decided to replace the belt as it had become damaged. It was easy, just a lot of screws. If you're like me and want to get away from the hassle of a gas mower, but still want the quality and power of one, this is your machine. Hopefully I get many years of use out of this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as good as I thought of Toro I bought this Mower to make my mowing experience easier. I bought the version with the 7.5 Ah battery, figuring it would easily handle my yard. I was wrong... There are a few complaints I do have: 1) Due to the small opening for bagging, any damp grass will accumulate around the opening, causing it to clog with grass. I try not to mow when the grass is wet...however, waiting for the blazing sun to bake me isn't appealing either. 2) The Personal Pace feature ( which I also have on my Gas Powered Toro) is not quite right. The mower attempts to "pop wheelies" when starting to move after a turn or from stationary. Of course when the deck is slightly elevated it's not going to cut your grass evenly...so back over that spot you must go. Once you have established your pace, it works fine and cuts great. I have learned to exert and upward force on the handle to keep to "nose" down, but am still getting used to it. My heavier Gas powered model did not have this issue. 3) The instructions indicate the incorrect starting sequence for the mower. You cannot push on the safety lever first...and then push the start button...nothing will happen. I thought something was defective, as another writer indicated( and returned his unit). The sequence is push the start button, then squeeze down on the safety level and the mower starts fine. This is indicated on the handle of the mower...it's a good thing, since reading and following the manual will lead you astray. 4) Battery life with the 7.5 Ah Battery is just enough to cut a small lawn that is completely dry and has only a small amount to trim off...otherwise, your battery will die before you are finished. I tend to cut in different directions to ensure a complete cut with no stray blades sticking up, so I don't get to do my lawn completely with multiple passes before battery is done. All in all the Lawnmower is sturdy and does its job. I believe it has been built for mainly recycling in mind and bagging is not considered it's primary function. I have a thick lawn with Zoysia Grass and cutting it if damp shows the lacking power to plod through at a faster pace. I do love this mower even with its drawbacks. I intend to buy another battery...which is exorbitantly priced, in the future. Charging rate for this Battery is way to long compared to competitive manufacturers. I am hoping Toro decides to keep at this Consumer line, and foster some improvements. Maybe they will read this review and address the issues mentioned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PROS; Quiet: about as loud as a powerful... PROS; Quiet: about as loud as a powerful window fan. Cuts evenly: the high-lift blade stands the grass up and I don't see any uncut blades of grass. Mulches finely: clippings disappear into the lawn. Handling: its light weight and large rear wheels make turns easy. Personal pace is great in the straights. CONS; When pulled backwards, the wheels sometimes drag or lock up. Proper drive cable adjustment can help. The wheels have no bearings and no grease. The battery takes nearly 3 hours to charge. The battery was nearly empty after cutting 5,500 sq. ft. of tall fescue in 40 minutes(one week's growth). If you have more to cut, or a thicker grass like zoysia, you will probably need a second battery.

I am thinking of purchasing this mower Toro has been around for along and there products are great. This would be my first battery powered mower should I be concerned about the battery lasting .

    Asked by: domi
It’s a 40 minute battery....if your lawn takes longer to cut than that, you’ll need to recharge. The two sizes of spare batteries are not yet available in Canada on HD’s site. I love mine, but I have a 45-50 minute lawn, so I need to recharge the battery to complete....a bit of a pain. Great mower other than that.
