Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another switch gone bad You would think with all the complaints about the switch this company would do something about it. At least offer a replacement part!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rheostat failed after 3 years of light use After three years of light weekly use, the blower switch failed. The motor works fine, and there are no replacement parts available.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2 bad problems There are 2 things that keeps this tool from 5 stars in all categories. The speed control will eventually fail (I'm on my 2nd unit, both have failed) and the zipper on the bag will come apart. I've probably purchased 5 bags, zipper failure on all. Currently have a new bag on with another one on the shelf. Trying to be real careful with the zipper, but a metal one would probably be better. My blower/vac stopped completely yesterday. I'm going to take it apart and see if it's the speed control switch again. This is a great tool ... when it works!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have to throw it away and didn’t not get to use it once Brand new. 1stme use and it doesn’t work. This was a gift and I don’t have the box or receipt. Plugged it in for 1st time and it does not turn on. Checked the outlet and my extension cord and they are not issue. Extension cord is adequate gauge. Headed to the trash bin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad switch I am a victim of the variable speed switch failure. Will never buy another Toro. Have had two other toros that have lasted much longer than this model which only lasted 3 seasons.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need Help I just used the vacuum for the first time and it worked great! However, after emptying the bag twice - about ten or fifteen minutes in, it stopped suctioning. I turned it off and cleaned the propeller of some mud but it still doesn't work. It turns on and the sound it loud, but there is no suctioning AT ALL.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Another bad switch don't use it very often a few times a year had it for about 3 years so maybe a couple dozen at the most . now the switch doesn't work and I find there is no way to repair it if I hold it in just the right spot it'll come on but if I move at all it's done

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Same Problem...the switch Adding this to the many online reviews of this product. It would receive a higher rating if Toto made any genuine effort to fix the weak link...the switch. I cannot fathom how it garnered four plus stars for dependability. This is my second one and I can guarantee that you will have the same problem as everyone else. The rheostat switch will fail leaving you with a useless blower. After all the dozens of complaints, you would think a reputable company would address the issue. Thank God they don't make aircraft parts!

Where do I get a replacement bag for Toro Model 51598 blower/vac?

Asked by: Anonymous
I got mine directly from toro, but if you look on the website you can get the part number for it and order it on repairclinic.com. They ship from canada so there's no duty.

My 51599 new blower worked well only once. Is there a fuse?

Asked by: Anonymous
There is a safety interlock switch on the blower inlet cover. Both the blower tube and then the cover need to be attached and snapped firmly into place for the blower to work. Try unhooking the blower inlet cover and snapping it back into place.

what are decibels of unit

Asked by: Anonymous
Deciibels of unit are a way of measuring the sound level of the blower. The higher the number the more sound it makes. The Ultra Blower is rated at high speed at 67db and at low speed it is 61 db.

BLOWER/VAC BATTERY OPERATED

Does it come in a battery version? Am looking for a trimmer, blower and vac with a battery. Does Toro make one?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unless you have a postage stamp sized property lot to maintain I would not recommend a "cordless" leaf vacuum/blower. They do not have the power and longevity to do a proper job and the batteries are very expensive to replace.

How long is the cord attached to the mechine?

If I go over 100 ft, do I need to buy an extra 12 gauge wire?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is always recommended to use a heavier cord when working with distances of 100 feet or more. It's not convenient but it's the machine that will be damaged and that can be avoided

Can the impeller be removed?

I want to use this to vac up the mulch that blows from my yard into my neighbours. The mulch is recycled wood so is quite a bit harder than leaves, etc?
Asked by: Anonymous
Not advisable. First of all the wood is dense and wear the impeller quickly. If the wood is wet or damp it has the potential to clog any wood chipper and would in fact destroy your Toro. Blow the chips to a conveniant spot in your yard that you can use as a compost and shange your dhips and dust to dirt.

To clean a really "cob-webby" barn.. vac or blow?

Asked by: Anonymous
At this time of year, the egg sacks are stuck in the crevices and the adults are finnished. So the best that you can expect to do is suck the webs off the walls. Blowing will only make clean up of your walls and tools harder
