Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Effective I used this kit to insulate my rim joists in my crawl space of my rural cabin. I'm in a somewhat remote location so I did not look at getting a quote from a professional installer which may or maynot be competitive with the diy kits depending on the size of your job. The foam kit is easy to use and adheres very well to the surface it's applied to. I applied it in the fall and was concerned about the temperature being below the manufactures recommendation so I ran a few heaters in the crawlspace before applying. I had roughly a 150ft of perimeter to do and in some spots I was applying it 12" wide and it others probably 18" and found I had ample foam to complete the job. The only issue I ran into was when the tanks were almost empty I continued applying even though the foam was coming out too runny. When you get to the end of the tank stop once this happens. Overall I'm very satisfied with the performance of this kit. I upgraded the insulation and vapour barrier in my crawlspace and have noticed a significant difference so far this winter compared to prior winters. Next summer I"ll be purchasing the larger kit and doing under my floor joists.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works great, but only 50% of expected coverage!!!! Am a heavy DIY'r and been eyeing this product line for a while, did all the research, had optimal product temps and attic temps, 24 degrees C, It's super easy to use, works great, BUT... the yield is poor.... got maybe 102Sq feet from what I expected would be at least a 150sq ft kit. They claim it can do 200 board ft, but a 50% lack in yield is brutal for the price point. Before some wise guy cuts into my review saying I applied it to thick or to cold or to humid the answer is no, I covered all that. Even put bottles in a bath of warm water and held the product for a week at 22 degrees before using. Used an infrared laser thermometer to check surface temps in attic, mercury put air temp at 24. So in closing, it's a good product but don't skimp like I did an buy a medium sized 200 kit only to get 102 sq feet at 1". I'm off to buy another kit, now that I've totally blown my budget, oh and taking three times as long because of start stop delay, but hey, this sort of thing nevers happens right...? Still cheaper than a contractor tho... good luck all, happy struggles...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works but yield seems impossible to achieve I had maybe 170 board feet to do, that includes a window so it's less... maybe 150... and i managed to do the entire thing but at maybe 1/2 inch. Everything was perfect and temperature range was perfect. But the problem wasn't that... it's that it near the last part of the wall it suddenly started having air/gas bubbles in the line... so it wasn't mixing properly. BOTH tanks had this. so i let the bubbles rise up to the nozzle and purged them out. i turned off a tank to balance them out. i barely purged anything and then noticed one tank was empty (the red?) the white still had a bit left. Also the site shows this is supposed to come with 5 wide nozzles. (yellow) but they come with 10 of the same which means you have to spray further away, seems like you get less even coats this way. Seems like hit or miss here, but yield was 50% at best and that 50% is perfectly cured. if it wasn't for the bubbles it may of been better. i'll try tiger foam next time. they should advertise this at 150 board feet at most then if you're that rare lucky person (1 in 10 maybe?) that gets the 200, great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Was nervous when I bought it. Used the "great stuff" kinda knew what I was expecting. The instructional DVD put my mind at ease. Was easy to use. First half of the containers went exceptionally well. 2nd half the pressures started to drop a little. The nozzle started to drip. I changed nozzles. No difference. Other than the little mess from the drip. No problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy To Use Used this product on a shed. Watched the video and got to work. I was impressed at the amount of product and how easy it is to use and goes quickly. Plenty of extra nozzles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is as advertised The Product is EXACTLY as advertised. Extremely temperature sensitive, and you must make sure you have an equal flow rate prior to attaching nozzle, and is not to be used for cavity fill in Canada (I checked with the manufacturer and the building inspector in Barrie, On). Having said that, once the temp of the surface and particularly the tanks is up to speed, the foam is great. Easy to get the hang of using, dries fast, easy cleanup of overspray with a scraper. Wear the mask and make sure area is well ventilated. Does not come with fan tips, just the bead tips but still covered the areas I did well. The only reason that I did not give it a 5 star as the use is limited (in Canada) and the temperature requirements.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete failure. Avoid at all cost. I just bought this. It's a total failure. Instead of foam, all I got is a disgusting brown liquid. At first it seemed to foam a little, but then the little foam it made dissolved into a brown, oil-like liquid. Now I have a real mess to clean up. And it's really hard to clean, because it's like oil AND it's in place that's difficult to access. For reference, the expiration date is January 2020 (we're in 2019), and all the temperatures were respected. This is a really defective product. I should have tried it in a plastic bag first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great item read up on this foam application process, worked out better than i could imagine. easy to apply, nozzle does drip a little. best to let the drips cure 100% BEFORE removing from any surface. used in a new addition between the joists in the basement area. Over all i will purchase this item again in the future.

can this kit be used to insulate rim joists. I have a 1950's house where the joists were set before the foundation walls were poured so each area has some concrete in it - spraying behind the blob of concrete would seem to be the best way insulate?

Asked by: Chuck57S
I have a '67 house with embedded joists in the concrete. I thought I would google the best way to insulate as there is that about 2" gap between the concrete and the subfloor. Everything I found said not to insulate that. It has to have heat in there. If you insulate it, you seal it and moisture from the concrete will rot the end of the floor joists off. Disappointing to find that out as I wanted to seal everything up really well and have a warmer house.

How many sqare feet will one container cover

Asked by: mrtchoss
Each foam kit is measured in board feet, which is a square foot with 1" of thickness. This foam kit will cover approximately 200 square feet at 1" thick; or 100 square feet at 2" thick; or 50 square feet at 4" thick, etc.

How is this product different from the "DAP Touch n Foam® Professional Low GWP Foam Sealant Kit 200 1.75 PCF FR CCMC", "model # 7565029200"? I dont see a difference other than $200 more

Asked by: joebug
Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in the DAP Touch ‘n Foam products. The “Touch 'n Foam Professional 2-Component Spray Foam Insulation Kit, Model # 4006020200” that you reference contained an HFC propellant. All HFC containing insulation kits were discontinued and completely reformulated to comply with new Canadian environmental regulations that took effect on 01/01/2021. You note that as per the OBC this is only for bead applications. Would it work for "cut & cobble" applications where the large area between the joists is EPS and this is sprayed around the edges to seal the gaps? If so, what gap / bead does it lay/shoot?

Asked by: jimthetroublemaker
Sure no problems. I'm planning to do that very thing this spring for a sunroom floor insulation upgrade. It comes with 2 nozzle types (several of each), one for bead spray and other for broad spray.

If I used this on a concrete foundation wall in a crawl space, would it eliminate the need to use a vapour barrier as well?

Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in the DAP Touch ‘n Foam products. In order to provide and air seal and a vapor barrier performance, a 2" thick application (maximum) of Touch ‘n Foam Professional 2-Component Spray Foam will be required. I know that you are saying only for beading (as per the canadian code) why can’t i do a whole wall between studs especially if it’s an entry that goes down to the basement.

Asked by: George
Current Canadian Building Code only recognizes the use professionally applied of high pressure spray polyurethane form for cavity filling applications.
