The ToughBuilt FoamFit Specialist Thigh Support Stabilization Knee Pads are the new benchmark for all-day kneeling ergonomics, comfort and functionality. Provides ultimate stability while maintaining easy side-to-side movement. Integrated thigh support keeps the knee perfectly centered, never twisting out of the kneepad. The lower platform raises the shin off of the ground alleviating pressure on the ankles. Ergonomic foam design embraces the natural shape of the knee and upper shin, maximizing pressure distribution for an extremely comfortable fit.

Can they with stand heat from metal and that type of material???

I am a scaffold builder and am on my knees on metal boards a lot to tie to boards ,meas, ect. And sometimes the boards can get really hot from sun exposure and have ridges to keep u from slipping need to know if this knee pad will hold up to this type of abuse and daily use

It will withstand your conditions described above. Welding may leave pits or molten metal etc.. They are a hard durable plastic or polymer. Basically the same thing these were initially used on a metal roof project in the blazing summer and the hot panels didn't affect the material of the kneepads what so ever. I do recommend putting some type of rubber tape or something where it makes contact with the surface you are kneeling on. They will be slippery as heck, making getting onto your feet on hard or slippery surfaces a challenge

Why are they 38 each and the same brand with more orange on it is 42 a pair

The difference in the price may be the gel pad style. As for the more orange, who knows, manufactures make changes all the time. I do not like the gel pad style because of blow outs.
