Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good. I bought a bunch of this to redo some of the flooring in my house. I have very little experience doing any flooring work but figured it can't be that hard and it isn't. After a while I eventually broke down and read the instructions. Install went pretty quick after that. It's a little tricky to get an entire row lined up then into place by yourself but it seems to be the best way to do it. If you need to hammer on the edges to get them together use a scrap piece of the flooring and be careful not to smash the pieces together or you'll wreck them and end up with ridges at the seams. Overall I'm happy with this product and will buy more to do my entire basement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product We bought about 1700 square feet. Had to finish one 200 square foot room with boxes we opened; then returned the rest. Lots of chipping and easily scratched. To lay it; you start with your first row like normal. On the second row you connect it end-to-end and then have to fit the tongue of the whole row in to the first row. This was my third floor I’ve ever done and I was helping someone who used to sell and install flooring. This product fought with us the whole way. Poor and easily broken milling and lots of chipping. Do not recommend; besides the lower price it has no redeeming features.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bang for your buck, but it won't last! I bought this, started installing it (cheapest laminate I've worked with), noticed that you can scratch out the grooves with your nail... Didn't hold out much hope but it went together well if you are careful. There is a small 1/4" crease in my floor and after about 1week of walking on it the section there has come. Undone and it is of course in the middle of my living room. I have since stapled it down but not sure how long it will last. For simple, flat rooms it will work though dropping anything on it mars or damages the surface. Heck stepping on a stone took. Off the grey grain. I would recommend only if it is a not often used room and if you are very careful putting things onto it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute trash This flooring is perfect if you hate your inlaws, if your neighbor stole your wife and you're somehow stuck renovating their new Lakehouse, then I highly recommend this product. If you put your hard earned money into your home, don't use this glorified cardboard, use something that has a built in underlay, where the interlocking tabs don't break as a whole strip. The 98 cents a square foot was too good to be true, now I'm out over $1000 because I took it to a remote community and can't bring it back. Long story short, don't get this product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and inexpensive Bought this flooring 27 boxes. Every piece fits amazing. Do the proper prep work and your flooring will look beautiful. If you can’t make this stuff work, hire a contractor! Simple and easy to install no problems!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Laminate The product is OK. It's very hard to lay down and you definitely need to use in under pad with it. However the grooves that click together are very thin and break and don't click together very well so there is a lot of move when done. make sure your floors are very level if using this product. Oversll look is nice just wish it lay together better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for the price Cheapest crap I could find, covered the floor, what else can I say? It’s there, it worked, it was cheap as heck. You can walk on.

How many boxes do I need to cover 110 square feet? What kind of subfloor do I need? This one is good: Model # 714040210

Asked by: hugo
Thank you for your interest in Shaded Oak laminate flooring. Here is a formula to calculate the number of boxes (called cases on The Home Depot web site) required if your room is rectangular with no juts. Room area X 1.1 (this adds 10% for cutting waste) / sq ft per box (for Shaded oak this is 20.11 sq ft/case). Based on your information this calculation is (110 sq ft X 1.1) / 20.11 = 121 sq ft / 20.11 = 6.02 cases. Purchasing 7 cases would give you a safety factor for bad cuts. Don't open the 7th case unless you need it. It can be returned to the store. Sub-floor refers to the solid structure on which the floor is to be installed, usually wood or concrete. It must be level and flat within a tolerance of 3mm per 1m (1/8 per 40"). An underlayment is required; also a moisture barrier if the sub-floor is concrete or is wood below grade. The moisture barrier can be 6 mil poly sheeting or may be integrated into the underlayment features. Please read the flooring installation instructions (included in each box) carefully before starting to install. The product you reference (714040210) is an underlayment. Please contact your local Home Depot store or the manufacturer for details concerning this product.

Hi, how do you remove dried grout stains on these laminate floor without damaging it?

Asked by: GN888
You can try pure Acetone (available in the paint department at The Home Depot) which often works with stubborn stains. Apply a small amount of pure Acetone to a rag and test in an unconspicuous area.

Does this flooring come with underlayment on the bottom or do you have to buy underlayment separately ?

Asked by: Jimmy
Thank you for your interest on Shaded Oak laminate flooring. This flooring does not have an attached pad. It requires an underlayment (purchased separately) to be installed beneath the flooring. If the flooring is to be installed on concrete or on a wood sub-floor below grade, a vapour/moisture barrier is also required. This may be a separate layer of 6 mil poly installed before the underlayment or you can purchase an underlayment that includes the vapour/moisture barrier.
