Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood shelf for shower still perfect after 3 years I painted a wooden shelf to go in a shower with this paint, and it's still in great shape after 3 years of daily use. That's right: a shelf made of softwood lumber, in a shower, getting soaked every day. I'd recommend oil-based Tremclad on wood for any outdoor application. Stay away from the water-based stuff. Water-based paint is a sham: it's not environmentally friendly if you have to throw away the thing you painted.

Can I paint an aluminum sided travel trailer with this paint?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you are certain the material is aluminum siding, and not galvanized steel siding, Tremclad can be applied. Clean the surface thoroughly, and lightly scuff it before priming, and painting.

Can custom colour be mixed into this tremclad rust paint?

Asked by: Anonymous
No, the pre-mixed Tremclad Rust Paints cannot be treated as tint bases. Colorants should not be added to these paints. However, you can mix different Tremclad colors together to create a custom color. Keep track of the proportions used so that you may duplicate your results.

DO I NEED TO SCUFF A NEW EXTERIOR METAL DOOR BEFORE APPLYING TREMCLAD RUST PAINT?

Asked by: Anonymous
If the metal in question is aluminum, yes, scuffing the surface and cleaning it well before painting with Tremclad is advisable. For any other non-galvanized bare metals, simply clean well, and paint with Tremclad.
