It seemed very easy to clean after I put juice and pop on.it. I tried stabbing it with a knife and dropping a brick on it. No damage. I'm definitely going to use this material for my deck this summer.

I have to say before I could even open the box it was soaked by rain and snow, which was awesome b/c it showed me it could weather the elements! The color is amazing and how sturdy it is also is great. It has a 25 year limited warranty on fading and staining and I love the fact its 95% recycled material.

I would imagine it will wear quite well. It does scratch (like wood), but the scratch doesn't have much of an impact on its appearance because it's the same color all the way through. The one possible negative is its weight -- very heavy. Which will not be a big deal for new construction, but having the proper support for an entire deck of this product would be something to consider when replacing a wood deck.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On my adventure of trying to find the perfect material that I would like to have a deck made out of, I came across Trex decking Transcend Island Mist. I was impressed by how heavy it was. That it was made out of recycled materials. Living in Maine the winters can be harsh, so I took my deck board sample and placed it outside with snow, and ice. I was impressed that I could scrape solid ice off of it and not see any real deep scratches.. I even took the board and put it under my car and drove over it about 10 times. Living in an 1850's farmhouse we are always looking for products that make our lives easier. Less maintenance is always better as you are always fixing something. Trex makes a top quality product, virtually maintenance free, and reasonably priced and in a variety of different colors. If you have not tried it you really should!

So thick and made incredibly well. This will be such a nice deck for your backyard or front patio or porch that will WOW all that see it. I highly recommend this product. I can't wait to build my deck to enjoy relaxing in my yard this summer. I can't wait... You will love it as much as I will.

this is called 2 x 6 but is it actually 2 inchs thick

Hello Jacob, and thank you for your interest in Trex! The recommended stair stringer spacing for the Transcend deck line is 12" on center for the 1x6 and 2x6 deck boards. The stair stringer spacing is more strict than the joist spacing due to the extra force exerted on a stair treads when people step down onto them. I hope this helps answer your question. Can this board have ground contact without rot?

Trex decking material does not contain anything that will harm plants or vegetables, but when using the material as a walking surface it needs to be installed on a substructure as opposed to having direct contact with the ground.
