I am using it for all types of work from 1/4" round-over to 2 1/2" raised panel. Best features are the built-in dust collection port and the router lift. That saves you a min of $250!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is by far my favorite router in my shop - there are so many things I like about this router ... This is by far my favorite router in my shop - there are so many things I like about this router and its performed wonderfully on a variety of projects. I chose this router over others in this price and power range because of its versatility. After using this for custom tables and cabinetry in my small shop I am very happy that I chose this router. 1. Power - tons of power. I used this to flatten a 3'x10' live-edge hickory slab table with a 1-1/2" bit. I could comfortably take passes up to 3/8" deep even with the hickory. This is twice the cutting capacity of my other 1/2" collet router. I was able to move through the table twice as fast with this router. This also has great power and torque when running rail and stile bit sets. I have yet to use a raised profile bit with this router but I believe that it will have tons of power for it. 2. Plunging Mechanism - very easy to use. It does take some getting used to to figure out which setting you are on. The rack-and-pinion plunge is very smooth and very consistent. The macro plunge is smooth and worked create for removing material for bowties in the slab table. The micro adjust is great too and allowed me to plunge to the precise depth I wanted. I can plunge the router and engage the different settings without moving my hands from the handle which I love - this means I can position myself for the cut and never have to move even while changing settings on the router. 3. Ergonomics/Stability - I can plunge and then lock the plunge mechanism in place without having to move my hand from the handle. The handles are up high on the router but I don't mind this. There are times that I have my right hand on the handle and my left on the router base to have maximum control but it is still comfortable. The handles themselves are comfortable. I think some other brands have more comfortable handles for free-hand work but I think this router combines the comfort of freehand with being able to comfortably use it in a flattening jig for slabs and other functions. This router weighs a lot but once you've got it positioned on a project or in a table it is very stable and I think the weight allows for this. I can also turn the power on with one hand without having to move either from the handles. 4. Mounting into a Router Table - This is the biggest reason I chose this over similar routers. I thin this router mounts into a table better than any other plunge router AND it has a built-in router lift - which SAVES you having to buy one which cannot be said for other brands. I love having this in a router table. I've had this in my table for running rail-and-stile bits for cabinet doors, edge profile bits, flush cut bits, etc. 5. Auto Spindle Lock - this mechanism for locking the collet for bit changing is great. After using this I hate having to use two wrenches on my other routers. 6. Safety Features - the power switch is covered by a plexiglass "door" and if you have the router in the bit changing mode the door will not open and you cannot turn it on even by accident. I love this because I know when I am plunging it down to change bits I cannot turn it on and it also cannot turn on when the collet is locked by the spindle. The power switch is also backlit so you can easily tell if the router has power going to it. 7. Vibration - I have noticed much less vibration with this router verses my 1-3/4 HP 1/2" Collet router. When using this for hours at a time it makes a big difference on my hands to have less vibration. 8. 1/4" and 1/2" Collets - great for being able to use a variety of bits. I love this feature and use it all the time. 9. Soft Start - very nice feature and it made flattening the table easier because it didn't jump when you hit the power switch. It is also nice in a router table because it eases into the rpm's and is easier on the motor over time. 10. Secondary Base Plate - I like the way the metal baseplate feels and the fence seems good. I honestly have not used this yet because I made a plexiglass base for my 1-3/4 HP router than has almost limitless spots for attaching a fence. I mainly use a 3/4" bit with a fence and have dedicated my 1-3/4 HP router for this function. I think the plunge depth stop could have locking detents for different positions. If you bump it the stops can rotate which means you won't hit it properly. I've found it to be an occasional annoyance but half the time its operator error. The only thing I do not like about this router is the dust shroud. I removed it right away because it was very difficult to see what I was doing especially with plunge cuts. The dust port is also a strange size. I could get my shop-vac line to sit inside there and not move but it was far from perfect. This is the perfect router for a small shop that needs a versatile router that can do just about any function. This is also perfect for dedicating to a router table. I love this router, it is by far my favorite. After handling routers by other manufacturers I like this one the best and am very happy with my investment.

I bought this router to run the Freud 99-762 (Rails & Stile) bits since I needed a higher HP router. With the variable speed control, I was able to run the speed the bits needed (16,000rpm). I needed to build a new router table as I didn't want to use my old one. I used 3/4" MDF layered with another 1/2" MDF, this worked really decently, but the issue is the depth of the router getting to the top of the table resulted in me having to route out 7mm from the bottom of the router. This allowed me to get to the height I needed. The locking of the bit feature when the router is raised all the way works great. The adjustment rod works decently to do the adjustments from the top of the router, however with it or manually reaching under, at times there seems to be some type of serious rubbing going on with the lift. I found by lifting on the router while raising/lowering helps with that - but minor/micro adjustments are quite easy. The locking lever did came unscrewed after a bit of use, but I re-installed it with no problems afterwards. Using this router in a router table is really good and I'd recommend people to consider getting this one. The dust collection on the router is good too - with my table I used it along with the router table dust collection. This minimized the amount of dust/chips to nearly nothing. I'm using the 5-gallon dust deputy and the Super Dust Deputy. I have NOT used this free hand, but the spring to do the plunge cuts is strong, but not so strong to make you wrestle it down. One thing that could be improved or provided would be a template of the holes to mount it in a table. They have 3-M6 bolts holes under the plate, however, without a template it was difficult to come up with a way. To handle this, take a piece of paper and cut to a square size of the width of the router. Tape it to the bottom with an edge of where the front of the router is and how you'd want it mounted in your table. Take a carpenters pencil and use it to rub on the paper where the bolt holes are - also rub where the opening of the router is too. Once you have that, place it onto a temp board to drill the holes on your drill press to ensure you have straight holes. With the template board, mount it onto the bottom of your router top (assuming you've built a MDF top) - I used brad nails to hold it on. Now drill holes through the top of the router. Next is the fun part to match up the holes. I purchased 4 bolts that were longer than I needed, I used 1 to get one bolt started. With the other 3 cut to length, I was able to get two others started, once those were in, I removed the longer bolt and put in the last bolt that was cut to length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exatrly what I was looking for I was looking for a router to mount to my home made router table. I purchased a kreg no ring plate pre drilled for the triton router. It fit perfect and allows me to make adjustments from above the table top. The router is powerful and came with both 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets
