Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for router table use Mounted the router to a 3/4" thick phenolic router table - and still able to change bits from above. Easy to change heights - comes with an above table handle, and removing the plunge spring for table use is a great enhancement. I have not used it free-hand, so cannot comment on that use or the accessories that came in the package to assist circles, edges, etc. Be careful in removing the plunge spring - the spring cap is not screw on, a 1/8 turn twist releases it and the spring. Having separate collets for 1/2" and 1/4" is a good feature, allows better gripping of the bits and removes the challenge of keeping track of an insert. The variable speed adjustment wheel is not positioned well for viewing when mounted on a router table. Not a big deal, but when I want a specific speed range have to get on the floor to view the numbers. Very happy with the router.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, good quality, dust could be better Everything advertised is right on. The only thing that has bothered me after about 3 hours of use is that the dust shroud is not as good as advertised. Even when hooked up to my shop vac it blasts a fair amount the other side. As a dedicated router for a table, this is a great and the dust isn't as much as an issue with dedicated dust collection. Still, great power, the soft start is nice for control, and the adjustments are spot on. I will be buying the smaller version for more fine working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, powerful, convenient features. Excellent for use in router table I bought this router after burning out a 2.5 HP Dewalt trying to roughy miter lock joints in QSWO. This router fit very nicely under my router table. The above table height adjuster and automatic spindle lock make bit changes a breeze (no more craning my neck from under the table while I try to make fine adjustments to bit height. Smooth start feature avoids torquing on startup. 3.25 HP is excellent for running large complex bits at slow speed without faltering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Router! This router is amazing! As others have posted its weight (coming in at 19 lbs) is a little much for hand held operations...namely because over the course of many years I developed a habit of using 1 hand on the router; the other to hold the wood stock. If one uses both hands this router will present no problems. In fact I built a router table, mounted the router and have no intention of ever un-mounting it. Next purchase will be a smaller router one can safely use one-handed...I'll be looking for a Triton. Long story short...you can't go wrong by purchasing this router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing power & smoothness I purchased this router to mount into my router table to replace my 2 1/4 hp "other brand" router. Since mounting I have used profile, straight and round over bits in it. I just cannot believe the smooth power the Tritan cuts with. Honestly it should with nearly 50% more hp! but the smoothness combined with the extra power is amazing. Add to that the cost - nearly half that of other similarly powered routers and this is a tremendous value. I do not use it in the hand-held fashion so the weight (which is the only con I have ever read on it) isn't a factor to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product This router is a true powerhouse. Very well made and designed I bought it for an under the table mount on a shaper table that is used primarily for window production. After drilling a hole in the shaper table's mounting plate for the router's quick wind handle, changing bits is a breeze. No more knuckle-busting under the table adjusting. The height lock is easy and very reliable - no more bit drifting from those unreliable cam lock router bases. Home Depot had the best price and had it delivered to my door in no time. Should have bought one of these years ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool for the purpose it was purchased I needed a powerful router that will be permanently mounted to a router table. I need to be able to change bits easily from the top of the table, connect to the table's built in power switch, adjust the bit height accurately from above the table, and avoid clogging the motor when removing a lot of material as in raising panels or milling moldings. This one fits the bill on all counts. The only negatives were that the opening on the router base is a little smaller than my large panel raising bits, and the Triton logo medallion was loose. Cost was surprisingly better than all comparable routers I considered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Little to much plastic, but then this is a quality beast that already weighs a lot for a router. ... Little to much plastic, but then this is a quality beast that already weighs a lot for a router. There are many fine tuning adjustments that are intuitive and easy to use. It is to big for me to use as a hand held router, but I mounted it under a cast iron table extension where it will stay. Instructions that come with the router could be much better, and I wish it came with a mounting template that included a drill bit size and location for adjustment hole. A caliper and the base plate worked well, but still. I like this router so much, I am ordering its 1.5 HP baby brother Triton to use as a hand held.

Does the above the table adjuster come with this purchase

Asked by: John
Yes it does and it works pretty well too. It is one of the reasons that I chose this unit, so that I did not have the purchase a third party unit

How would this router work for slab flattening/planing? I currently have an undersized router and would like a larger 1

Asked by: Adot
Used 1 3/4" bit to flatten a piece of walnut and it worked great. Has awesome power.

how quiet is it compared to other routers

Asked by: calichicano
It is about the same noise level as other routers, until you get into an extremely hard section of wood and then it is very loud, but that is because it electronically adjusts under load to maintain speed and power. Hope that helps a little, this is probably the best consumer type router money can buy.

What is the distance between the center of the router bit and where the adjuster arm comes up for router table use?

Also what is hand crank diameter for router table use?
Asked by: Nate
Approximately 3.5”, however the best way to locate to hole is to use the black plastic baseplate and use it as a template. The through hole is then 3/8”. I hope this helps or feel free to call us at 980-297-7200.

how large a diameter bit will this accommodate?

will it accept a 3" panel bit?
Asked by: Marc
I have it in a router table and am using a Bench Dog "group 2" insert plate (largest size). The maximum diameter in this configuration is 3-11/16". In this configuration, I have no problem using any of the panel raising bits I own and while my largest is 3-1/4, I think it would handle up to 3-1/2" with no problem. Other than replacing the supplied phenolic base plate with the insert plate and removing the lift spring, there were no modifications to the router, so yes, there should be no problem using a 3" panel raising bit.

Does the base accept an edge guide? I do not see any hole for a guide in the base.

Does the base accept an edge guide? I do not see any hole for a guide in the base.
Asked by: DKE
The size of this unit should only be used in a fixed table due to the horse power and bit size as well depth of cut. the power it has is out of this world. My use is cabinet building and custom molding. I have several routers if you used the bits with bearings you would be ok but without bearing I feel the router would get out of hand if not in a fixed cut.
