Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product This router is a true powerhouse. Very well made and designed I bought it for an under the table mount on a shaper table that is used primarily for window production. After drilling a hole in the shaper table's mounting plate for the router's quick wind handle, changing bits is a breeze. No more knuckle-busting under the table adjusting. The height lock is easy and very reliable - no more bit drifting from those unreliable cam lock router bases. Home Depot had the best price and had it delivered to my door in no time. Should have bought one of these years ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very strong router, good purchase This is a monster of a router requiring a careful dry run of it's use before turning it loose on valuable work. Cut corian like butter. Plunge lever and handles are strong and comfortable to use. Dampered start up speed is smooth and doesnt throw you across the room with a sudden high speed surge. If you are new to plunge routers, you'll spend some time getting used to its operation. I was dissappointed that the base plate requires you to purchase a separate guide bushing insert plate not provided with the router that caused me a delay in use. I have seven routers and at a minimum, they all (except the 2 small trim routers) came with at least a base plate with the guide bushing threads. That said, unless you did your home work and bought it at the same time, the router, as it comes out of the box is limited to bits with guide bearings, use of a straight edge clamped to the work or the edge guide it comes with. Seems a threaded guide bushing base plate should be provided at this price. It does come with 1/4 and 1/2 collets and a table elevation crank arm. Haven't used the edge guide yet but, it appears to be limited to a track typically used with tracks saws or router tracks. Can't speak yet to compatibility with the track required.

Bit changes and height adjustment from above. I set my table up with an on/off on the side of the table which works out okay, but you do have to reach under and close the safety on the router's on/off switch to raise the bit up to change it - no big deal. Plus you get 1/4 and 1/2 collets, pretty awesome. And the dust collector right under the table is very well thought-out. I also use an additional hose on the fence (I made my own table). I have also used it as a plunger and it performed perfectly. At 3.25 HP, this beast seems even more powerful than my old Craftsman 3.5. Don't worry a bit about the changing of company ownership, with Home Depot behind it, that's all that matters!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very solid tool Bought this a year ago to flatten a slab surface. Beautifully smooth and built like a tank. Here's the frustrating part: the collet. Can't remove the bit. Watched online videos, tried contacting Triton for support (none in Canada -- Quebec support is closed), so I'm stuck at home with work to do and can't get the bit out. Therefore... time to buy a new router. Probably Bosch this time. Very frustrating.

Comes with over size medal base nice but holes to actually screw in on are off by about 3/16" . With washers and drill bit can make it work. Put in my router it got it adjusted fine. Tightens depot adjustment plastic lever breaks out. Wish was a zero star. Who knows what will happen when I get it plugged in.

Hi where can i get parts for the triton router

Hi where can i get parts for the triton router
Asked by: Scotty
Depends on the parts you need. Home Depot carries generic accessories that will fit such as guide bushings, bits, router tables and router table mounting plates and inserts, and often has tool specific parts such as edge guides and dust hoods if they are sold by the manufacturer as aftermarket accessories. If you've actually broken the tool by dropping it and cracking the motor casing or plunge base, etc, or you have worn out normal wear components like motor brushes or switches, the starting place would be the manufacturer's website. If you still have the manual, you can usually find a part number and if you google that part number, you will often find the part at a specialty parts retailer.

Will it mount on a Bosch router table?

Asked by: Peanuts
I just answered this question and need to amend it. Yes, it looks like it will fit, but I just looked up the Bosch router table and...that's a wimpy little table for a big, "torky" router like this one. I use this router to run custom moldings with big heavy bits on long stock and my table which is 24" deep and 36" wide is none to big.

Does the above the table adjuster come with this purchase

Asked by: John
Yes, and I lost mine and replaced it with a length of 3/8" steel tubing scavenged from an old copy machine. I cut a slot in one end with a Dremel tool and carbide cut-off wheel, and made an extra fancy crank handle out of walnut. I assume you want this to make a router table and you don't want to buy a separate router lift, which means you are as stingey as me. Good on ya mate. This router is perfect for that. It's maybe a tad harder to adjust than one of the high end router lifts, but it's maybe a minute of extra fussing on set up vs several hundred dollars more for the lift. If you use it in a router table, there is a lift spring that you can remove to make it easier to adjust. The instruction manual tells how, but I think it does not warn you to remove this carefully because...SPROINGGG...it flies out of there like one of those gag snakes in a can of almond roca...is almond roca even a real thing?

Hi my name is scott i just bought a tritton 3 1/4 plunge router am having problem getting the spindle to release followed the manual but still no luck
Asked by: Scotty
It's tricky at first and I recall having difficulty with it when I bought it, but now it's so automatic that I can't think what I do...straining my brain a bit to think through the whole...OK, I'm just going to run out to the shop and look... 10 minutes later...It locks automatically when you completely extend the spindle to R&R the bit. It remains locked until you retract the spindle until the collet is no longer extending beyond the base. And you can't slide the switch guard out of the way to activate the power switch until you have retracted the spindle to release the spindle lock. I'm not sure why it gave me fits at first, but I do remember being nearly frustrated enough to send it back...and then it...just worked. Just fiddle with it a bit and you will be rewarded.
