Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint from the door fell off, the drives and motors... Paint from the door fell off, the drives and motors screeched and popped not stop, the motors were so loud you couldn't hold a conversation in the next room. Piece of junk so I returned it.

I installed this stove in 2012 and have operated it for 4 heating seasons. I ducted it in series with the existing hot air oil fired furnace's return duct. It heated my 1950 vintage, 2000 sq ft ranch style home & full finished basement to 68-70 degrees F with 2 bags of pellets/ day on 20-40 degree F winter days, up to 3 bags/day on 0-20 degree F winter days running the stove at about half of its capacity. The stove essentially paid for itself in the first three years with fuel oil prices at the $3-$4/gallon. The stove did its job and is ready when I need it. Its on standby now given that fuel prices and pellet prices favor heating with fuel oil at this time. Operating the stove involved some learning: getting the feed rate and burner air ratio set properly. I keep the well written instruction manual handy. Cleaning and maintenance needs to be done periodically, a minor inconvenience for handy folks. I replaced the burn basket agitator after five years...the ends of the 'spokes' eroded. Bottom line: BE SAFE! Follow the installation instructions, underscoring the importance of proper exhaust and chimney construction. The chimney is, in this engineer's opinion, absolutely the most important safety feature of this device. Like brakes on a car, if they don't operate properly, someone's life could be at risk.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very well built product but EXTREMELY complicated to get set. Unfortunately US Stove tech service... Very well built product but EXTREMELY complicated to get set. Unfortunately US Stove tech services only read from the book and really know nothing about the furnace itself. I've had to go to an outside source to get my questions answered and after 2 months of messing around, still have not had the stove up to its advertised BTU potential - still experimenting with the controls/settings hoping it eventually will work better than the old wood furnace. There is hardly any dust in the vents and no smell - that is nice. Do some research on pellet costs as well as a good supplier should be reasonable, reliable (DRY hardwood pellets) and close by (you could be using 2-3 bags per day). So far, we haven't seen any cost savings - just convenience. We live in WI and it's been very cold recently and it was barely a slight backup to the LP furnace during that time. Holds it's own when the temps are in the 20+ range so all is not lost but still not as advertised. The pellet agitator broke after 1 month (twisted out of shape and completely broke off) and took about a week to get the new one (was warrantied) - then the pin sent with the new one from the manufacturer broke off after 1 week of use as well. We had much higher expectations for the price paid and we are still hoping to achieve the optimum heat range at some point. YouTube has some instructional videos which are more helpful than the manufacturers customer/tech service (US Stove should be employing them!). The furnace is well built but don't think it's quite for everyone. There are simpler "stoves" out there but we were looking for a basement whole house unit that blows through the existing ductwork. Would advise thinking about where the stove is to be used and exactly what is needed before spending this kind of money as maybe a regular "stove" unit would be sufficient for your needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great furnace I have this stove hooked up as a secondary to my forced hot air propane furnace. Its easy to install, operate and adjust once u get used to the control panel and programming. It has only been installed for a few weeks but does the job. Makes my old pellet stove look tiny. I would have liked an auto ignite feature.

Customer service helped us reset the factory settings to the optimum settings for the stove. One fill of pellets gives us apx 76 hours of heat on setting one, keeps the house at 72* This is one of their better built and economic stoves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pellet Stove I was impressed with the quality of the pellet stove and the ease of installation and operation. The stove is built strong and user friendly. There was a discrepancy between the advertisement and the actual packing weight. The add said it weighed over 300 lbs. but the actual weight was over 500 hundred lbs. If I would have known the actual weight I would have had more friends to help get it in the basement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from US Stoves 8500 Multi Fuel Pellet Furnance This unit did not produce heat. I spent hours on the phone with US Stoves company which was no help. It states the unit will heat 3,000sq ft. We adjusted the feed rate to 11lbs of pellets an hour and the output heat on the supply duct was 98 degrees or less on the Pr-5 setting and the temp in my house did not go above 65 degrees with an outside temp of 36 degrees. We also adjusted the air flow and no improvement. We spent all day for a week straight on the phone with US Stoves Company. They had us try several different adjustments and no improvement. They refused to send someone out to check it. I had no choice but to return it to Home Depot. I lost $1,651.00 on the installation. Since my bank would not let me use my debt card for such a large payment for the unit, I was advised to purchase Home Depot gift cards to purchase this unit. Now I can't get cash back. I was told they can only credit the money back to a gift card. So I took a lost for the installation $1,651.00 and I am stuck with $2000.00 in Home Depot gift card. The balance the owe me will be credit back to my debit card. I am very disappointed with this purchase.
