Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little air exchanger I installed one of these units in my house 5 years ago and it has been working trouble free since then. The air is cleaner and a lot less dust. Ducting connections were simple and controller wasn't too hard to connect. It is fairly quiet (it is a fan so there is a hum), and only during strong winds do you notice the air intake as the ball prevents to much inflow, protecting the exchanger. Quarterly filter cleaning is simple and the controller will let you know when to do it. Do not ignore the service light. I haven't needed to call Venmar for any problems with this unit and it was the first one I installed myself just by using the instruction manual. Make sure you run this on its own circuit, and depending on the location, use a GFCI outlet. One thing I did not like was the construction of the reusable filter. It seems flimsy and bends easily.so -1 star for that. I would recommend buying a spare filter when you do the cleaning so there isn't any down time, and allows the filter you just cleaned to dry out properly. Make sure you clean your vents at least annually. It doesn't take long and will ensure the longevity of this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Condensation Problems Solved My 2000 square foot house is very well sealed and because I have a high efficiency furnace and electric water heater, the interior humidity is never exhausted to the outside. The humidity just accumulates and I've had serious window condensation problems for years. Running the bathroom exhaust fans never seemed to help. I looked into HRVs and they were just too expensive for my budget. This winter I couldn't take the puddles on my window frames any longer and came across this product. Like the advertising indicated, the EA1500 is more cost effective than an HRV. Although not a true HRV, it still warms the incoming cold air very well. I installed the unit when the weather was -20C or lower for many weeks straight. After just a few hours of activating the unit, the condensation on my windows and exterior door handles was eliminated. I'm very happy with the results and the unit is relatively quiet. Installation was relatively straightforward. Make sure you follow the instructions and don't reduce the recommended duct diameters below the minimum specified.
