Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I used about $900 worth of these boards in various widths to complete a project . The Pros are that they won't rot, they paint up very well and they glue together quite nicely. The reason why I did not give them 5 stars is is complicated. There's a fastener called Cortex Rot Free which is a very good fastening system for these somewhat expensive boards. It's not available at HD which is a drawback Secondly, the PVC glue.. which needs to be clear if you are not painting them, should be a cement with greater than 20 seconds open time... Try finding that in the store. Gluing these results in really strong joints that wont separate. So, the lack of 5 stars has to do with complimentary goods needed to install these with professional results and convenience. Two other places sell a replacement to these: One is called Azek which is almost double in price; the other is Royal which is about 20% more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Actual thickness is nominal? I purchased an 8' and 12' to do the Fascia on my house for a ~18' section. I discovered that the pieces are different thickness with a delta of 1.5 mm which is very significant! Be sure to measure before you buy so you don't have any surprises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for wet areas I purchased this for a clients bathroom. They had trim along the base of the tub where it meets the floor that was water damaged from water spilling out... there was a gap that needed trim. I used PL glue to attach it and put the smooth side out. It worked great. I know it’s meant for outdoor applications but it works perfectly in a bathroom setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from use of trim decided I wanted water proof trim in bathroom so used this board for baseboard and door trim near the walk in shower. I realize that these boards are designed for outdoor use but since the possibility of water spilling in bathroom is high, these would not swell, warp or go moldy. They are a bright white and I matched the rest of the trim paint to this white. Looks great. You also have a choice of the flat side or a very nice rippled look.

Is this paintable?

Asked by: Steph
Hello Steph, This PVC trim is paintable. Please use an exterior acrylic paint after thoroughly cleaning the boards to remove any residue that may remain following the manufacturing process.

What size or kind of nails should be used with these trim boards. I want to use them outside the house and not paint them.

Asked by: GeorgeDonner
I used composite deck screws in pre-drilled pilot holes. Set the screw flush or just enough to cover with white exterior caulking. They have a bit of weight to them. It is possible to nail them with galvanized nails and set them under the surface enough to apply caulking in the hole. Nail sizes increase with length for finishing nails. You would have to go at least to 2-1/2” spiral galvanized. If using an air or electric nailer the head is very small. The same length finish nail. It is a good idea to use an exterior composite compatible adhesive on these at the same time. Especially if they are overhead. If using the composite screws pre-drill the pilot holes and start the screws in after cutting and checking the fit. Composite screws have a small head that hides nicely but dull points. If you start them before you put them up it is easy to drive them in with your screw gun or impact with steady pressure. Back off on the speed when you get close.

Can a bevel be added by cutting thru a table saw? I was planning on repainting them anyways.

Asked by: Ben79
Yes, it can be sawn just like wood, just make your cut quickly so that very little heat is generated in the cut by the saw blade

1.) Can this be run through the router to add a bullnose? 2.) Will this discolor/yellow over time?

Asked by: Mananda
What type of routing or milling bits should I use? Use standard woodworking carbide-tipped router bits. Secure the trim to a bench or table when routing to minimize “chatter”. Once the routing is complete, the cut can be smoothed using 220-320 grit sandpaper. This will help seal the cut edge and make it more resistant to dirt. After routing, to seal the exposed cells you can: Paint the exposed area with a high quality 100% acrylic latex paint

Will this adhere to wood? Will an 18 gauge brad nailer penetrate the PVC? What kind of glue is to be used?

Asked by: PCA Consulting
Personally I've used the pl construction glue along with the 18 gauge brad nails and they worked perfectly.
