Rated 1 out of 5 by from These don't fit standard rise/run stairs. These are only designed for 45 degree stairs (equal rise and run). Standard (comfortable) stairs are 7 inch rise 10-11inch run. The company rep was less than helpful in trying to find a solution to make them work. I was told there is some flex in the 45 degrees but it's only a few degrees either side. Have decided to return the whole lot including the deck railings since I want it all to match. Very frustrating to find this out at this point in the build. Seeing that I'm not the first reviewer to mention this problem, I think the company might want to look at making a more versatile adapter to accommodate "normal" stairs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Options This item allows very little wiggle room to customize a railing on stairs. The angles of the connectors were good, but what if you wanted to match top and bottom deck rails to the stairs (a normal build)? You can't. These are short balusters, and if you want to use the long ones, you need to buy extra parts, which Veranda (or Home Depot) do not sell. You can't buy the angled connectors in any Home Depot in Edmonton, AB. This means you need to buy many more of these kits and throw all the extra parts out (short balusters). This makes the angled connectors extremely expensive. Not a bad product, quality wise, but their foresight fell short. No problems with the straight rail kits. The stair kits require a strategy meeting in the Veranda boardroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cedar deck Railing Just used these on my Cedar Deck. Worked great. I set up a jig on my drill press and drilled all my own holes with a good Forstner bit ( drilled holes 1" deep). Set the bottom of all spindles first then set all of the top in by sliding the top plastic loosely into top holes then secured with ratchet straps. set the tops all in tight then snugged up ratchets. Installed in full lengths two 12' and a 16' section. Was an easy two person assembly and looks great. Best part is no staining spindles required. (FYI I stained the hole side of the top and bottom rails before installing spindles to save a lot of head aches later).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very complicated to assemble The manufactures instructions say "Makes it easy to construct." This is far from the truth. I purchased the Veranda Deck Railing Kit which worked ok so I wanted to continue with the same railing for my stairs. The stair railing kit requires extremely accurate measurements and the spindles are not forgiving in anyway. The installation requires two people to help guide the spindles into the holes. If one spindle doesn't align properly into a hole then the entire section falls apart and you have to start over again. Be prepared to use up all your 4 letter words as you work with is product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so close to excellent, but.... The kit is well designed, unlike the stair rail kit(see my comments on that product). However, this kit has instructions that say you can turn the balusters to any angle for any design you want and even provides design suggestions. This is nice as long as you don't use the stair rail kit, which only has one option, otherwise your baluster sections will not match. Changing the design after they have been installed is not as easy as the instructions say as the workspace is tighter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product except. .. Love this rail kit looks great easy modular system. The balusters come capped with plastic caps which are to be installed with the balusters into the pre-drilled rails. The problem is the caps don't fit in the holes- the caps need to be removed for the balusters to fit in the holes. Not a big deal except it seems water will collect in the hole on the bottom rail easily causing premature rot. Not ideal. Perhaps the manufacturer isn't accounting for shtinkage of the wood as it dries? Anyway just something to consider... If you make your own rails this is not a problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I wish I read the reviews before purchasing this product. It seems that after 4 years veranda haven't fixed the issue in regards to the previous comments before me. Problems listed below. 1. Baulster angle end cap is fixed at a 45 degree angle. (Most stairs have a wide variety of rise and run). 2. If using the veranda rail kit (Not the stair kit) the length of the Baulster are considerably different, meaning that the top of the stair rail will not be at the same hight as the existing rails.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incorrect product description This product was easy to use and worked well. However, the description online is incorrect and misleading. This kit does NOT come with 'FastBallTM Baluster Connectors'. This kit DOES require pre-drilled 2x4s The balusters are actually 34 (not 32) Really wish Home Depot would correct this.

Are the top nd bottom rails included? (where the balusters go into). Looking at the video it seems they are needed for the end plates. I see that the posts are not part of the package as is the very top rail. thx

Asked by: Davey
Hi Davey, thanks for your question. This veranda baluster kit contains only the aluminum balusters and end caps. The pre-drilled wooden rails are sold separately. Thank you.

What size holes do I need to drill into a 2x4 to fit the cap. The baluster is 3/4 inch but the cap will be larger. I will not be purchasing the pre-drilled 2x4s.

Asked by: hamekkis
Hello and thank you for your question. You would need to drill 13/16" pilot holes if you're going to use the plastic end caps, and 5/8" pilot holes if you are not going to use the plastic end caps. We hope this is helpful. Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions. Our toll free number is 877-883-7325. Thank you!

Hello, will the angled connectors for the stair rail kit work for a 55 degree stair? I will be drilling my own 2x4 because the Home Depot in my location doesn't have the pre-drilled ones in stock.

Asked by: js2114
You would have to measure the angle to drill the holes at. All stairs are not the same angle
