Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow Processing , Poor responses from Staff 8 week delivery time for misting boards is not acceptable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I had struggled with the costs as I was putting in 700 sq feet of decking in total. But I am so glad I went with this product. After 2 summers and our second winter it looks good as new. Absolutely no maintenance at all compared to other decks I’ve owned. Only issue is there is a fair amount of expansion and retraction from summer to winter so ensure you install accordingly. I highly recommend this product. I’ve already done one deck extension and the old and new deck matched perfectly. Looking to do the second and last extension in the front this spring.

I have to cut many boards to length. A few, I need to rip to width. Likely will use my miter and portable circ. saws. What type of blade works best with this material? Size of teeth? Coarse? Fine? Medium? Thanks

Asked by: Big Guy
Hi Big Guy, You can cut Veranda products using the same tools you use to cut pressure-treated wood. A sharp, carbide-tipped saw blade is recommended.

I'd like to install Veranda composite decking over a concrete patio, but I can't install it over 2x6"s on edge because it would make the deck higher than the doorway. Can I install it on to 2x2"s? The patio is very small - only about 10 feet by 5 feet.

Asked by: jackie27
Hi Jackie27, This cannot be installed with 2x2". Minimum clearance required below the decking is 6” and is required for airflow through and under the decking.

I would like to use this product to cap cement stair treads that go tot the basement from my garage.  We live in southern Ontario.  I was thinking to PL them in place.  Good idea?

Asked by: Arch
Hello Arch, a pressure treated substructure is recommend. I wouldn't recommend this decking for your project.

I am curious if the back side of this decking is sealed ? I am looking for a food safe - long lasting alternative for treated lumber to use for the sides of my veggie garden.

Asked by: Johnny
Hello Johnny, This deck board is not intended for ground contact but an alternate board Model # TA315534-12|Store SKU # 1001113918 12’ Veranda Ultra Light can be used, but know 4x4 and 6x6s are treated to ground contact so they can be used in direct contact with the soil and can be used for garden barriers. If you cut any of the wood, be sure to seal them with an end cut sealer. The wood doesn’t need to be treated as far as the wood preservative protection is concerned but you can apply an exterior coating to protect the wood’s surface weathering.

Can Veranda HP Composite Capped Decking be glued down to a cement pad? If yes do you recommend a specific glue. I live in Northern Ontario and experience severe temperatures. Area I intend to cover will be exposed to weather but it is a a sheltered area.

Asked by: Terry
No. I do not think is possible.

2) what is the advantage of solid versus grooved? Is it simply the fastening preference?

Asked by: Jason
Jason, yes it would be the individuals fastening preference. Solid boards are typically used for stairs and borders on decking. Grooved boards provide a fastener free surface, although we have color matched composite screws if you choose to use a solid board.
