Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pocket doors Installing the second one now and as an experienced builder I left the instructions behind at step 2. They’re not clear and could be better. It’s a clever product and I like the look when done, but like all doors it’s tricky and requires patience. It will look great but takes some time to assemble. Buy shims and a little extra 2x4.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak construction The unit broke while removing the shipping bars. I glued and screwed all the joints before installing. The door works fine now

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy kit, take your time with the install!!! This kit makes installing a pocket door quite easy. The first time you install one, the instructions aren't 100% clear but if you take your time, think before you cut, it is pretty simple. Subsequent installs should be much easier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer beware I bought this product for a bathroom reno and have never been so frustrated... The stamped dimensions at the top for cutting to the proper length were off which resulted in an opening that's too large, the wood used for the frame is brittle and splits when hammering in the finishing nails to keep it together and my worst issue is that the frame is warped and the center touches the door... The aluminum stiffener is way too weak as well and needs to be beefed up if you ever want this product to work properly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Follow the instructions and it will work I bought one of these for a vanity that I added to my kitchen. It is not the most solid frame, but if you follow the instructions you can get good results. My door worked great for at least several years (we sold that house). Definitely way easier than framing your own pocket door.

I'd like to install this in my bunkie but only have 6'4" head room, can this be cut shorter to accommodate the low head room?

Asked by: bert
You would have to cut the height down from the bottom but it should work. The only metal part is the track that runs along the top of the door for the wheels to run in.

I am trying to figure out how wide the wall needs to be? Specs say 4 3/8 wide. But is that without the drywall obviously?

Asked by: MikeP
Hi MikeP, thank you for your inquiry. The thickness of the wall should be 4.1/2" and this includes your drywall. We hope this helps.

I am thinking of installing a pocket door in my new construction. From the the reviews, this product doesn't seem very sturdy. QUESTION: #1 Would it be possible to install this in a 2 x 6 wall by reinforcing either side to suit a thicker wall ?

Asked by: RAYMOND
I installed this in a 20 foot long by 11 foot high wall and just made sure both sides of opening were properly supported and the door was secured to floor. i have had no issues with this being study. frame like a normal door opening and should have no problem.

Installation of a adjustable pocket Door

I have installed two of your pocket doors and adjusted the kit for a 32 inch door which calls for a rough opening of 66 1/4 inches. the header is short by 1 3/8 inches. I could rip a 2x4 and make up the differance, but why would it call for a 66 1/4 inch rough opening if its off that much?
Asked by: Anonymous
Once the header is cut at the appropriate markings for a 32 inch door, the length of the header should be ~64 27/32". Once the header is centered in your rough opening and the frame is adjusted to the right width for a 32" door you should have ~1/2" between the spine and the rough opening and ~1/2" between the jamb and the rough opening. This allows you to shim the frame in place to ensure that it is plumb.

What are the dimensions of the doorway for framing?

I am framing up a wall for a 36 x 80 pocket door. What size is required for the opening in the rough framing prior to hanging the door? Also, can I use 2 2x4s for the header? or should I use 2 2x6? thank you
Asked by: Anonymous
2x4s are adequate for this application. In this situation you can even frame the header as you would a regular walls with a plate and studs. Your rough opening will depend on what pocket door frame you want to use. But 84" x 62-1/4" is what the Veranda frame calls for.
