Viagrow Heat Mat Thermostat controls the temperature of heat mats by providing constant optimum temperature for plants, seedlings, clones and cuttings. It is ideal for maintaining root zone and rooting temperatures in a propagation tray with humidity dome. Easy plug-in operation with LED indicator light, digital temperature selection with controllable range from 68 to 108 (2042° C) degrees Fahrenheit. Includes temperature probe with 6' cord Maximum current rating is 8.3 Amps/1000 W. 6ft power cord and probe. Choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius digital readout. Having a wheel barrel would be helpful to combine the coir and water, because it's an appropriate height for mixing. The water retention value in cocunut coir is an ideal medium for breaking up heavy, clay soil. It would significantly improve the aeration of compacted soil in a potting container, also. I add an amendment of 20% coconut coir with premium garden soil, along with slow released fertilizers, into flower beds. I am hoping to create an environment that conserves water.

The coir is compacted, and expands a huge amount when soaked in warm water (approx. 9 gallons). It took about 30 minutes to fully expand, now I have more than I need! I filled the 5 gallon pots about half way and put tomato plants in them. They are in and ebb and flow hydroponic setup and receive nutrients once daily. The coir retains the solution well, and so far the plants are super happy! This makes a great setup for a patio or deck garden. Very nice!

Never used coconut coir to grow things in my life and I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. Takes a while for the coconut coir to absorb all the water but once it does, it really expands and has a nice texture. The grow bag takes a while to get used to but it works. So far my plants are happy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like coconut coir product because it is 100% natural, renewable, holds water, and it helps maintains aeration. Simple to use, remove the coconut coir block out of the bag, place it in a large container, such as a wheel barrel or cart, and soak it with a lot of water. Let it stay wet for a couple of hours and watch as the coir fluffs up and magically expands. A single coir block expanded and it filled 3/4 of my cart. If I had used warm water as instructed, it would have more. I used this coir with some potting mixed for vegetable and fruit plants. The five gal plastic grow bags are durable, so I expect to reuse them. They come with pre-cut holes for drainage. Once filled with soil media and plant, it stands upright. They are easy to move, transport, and store away when not in use.   The coconut coir is more environmentally friendly. A single coconut tree can product many coconuts throughout the year. Coconut coir is renewable and it a byproduct from coconut water production. After processing a coconut for its water and meat, what is left is the hard shell and the fiber husk. This byproduct(s) is excellent for horticultural applications.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the coconut coir when it was time to repot some boston ferns. The product came as a dehydrated 11 lb brick (see the pictures). I put it in a large storage container and added water – they recommend at least a 9-gallon container to hydrate. After a couple hours it was ready – flaky and easily broken apart. I added some garden soil I had (about 1 part soil to 4 parts coir) and mixed. The coconut coir is good for root development and is great at storing water. My ferns are repotted into hanging baskets. The coir will help to keep them from drying out. I chose coconut coir has an eco-friendly, organic material that will benefit my plants. After repotting 2 fern I have quite a bit left over. I plan to keep it and work it into my garden as I plant new, and replace, flowers and vegetables.

I mix it with potting soil and perlite for a complete grow media that stays moist and captures the natural fertilizers you may use to grow healthy full producing plants. I have used this media in the past and it does quite well for me. I would recommend you give it a try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first thought was these bags were not going to be very durable. I used a 5 gal. bucket to hold the bag while I transplanted tomato plants. The bucket kept it all neat and tidy. The coconut coir included with this product is very rich and nice to work with, the texture is just right for young plants and the amount included was very generous for planting 3 bags. After transplanting the tomato's and watering enough to settle the soil I grabbed the bag on each side and lifted the plants out of the bucket. The bag held nicely with no stretching or tearing (yea, I was impressed). I sat the Bags in the Garden and wiggled them a bit and they stood up very stable I also folded down the top of the bag an inch or so to strengthen the top edge. I watered the plants and the excess water came out the drain holes just like it is supposed to. This is my first use of the bags, which are reusable, I will be reordering these. Just a thought, the five gal size bag is smaller than a five gallon bucket, and the 7 gal bag fits a 5 gal. bucket perfectly
