Rated 3 out of 5 by from Here is a fix you might need if yours isn't great So I got this as a backup unit and with recent heat waves I installed and used it a few days in second bedroom. When started it works great but then after an hour the compressor cuts out. When the compressor runs its cold like the internally identical "Toshiba" I have (down to compressor model number). After checking everything externally I was about to give up but pulled the front face. This uses an electromechanical thermostat like most cheap ac / fridges / etc. It's a tube with a gas in it. When hot it expands and pushes a switch turning on the compressor. However mine was touching the evaporator (the cold radiator). So when it kicks on the compressor it's no longer measuring room temp but the freezing cold compressor. The fix is to make sure this little wire isn't touching the evaporator anywhere!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid little unit for a bedroom. This is your typical in window air conditioner. The 5000 model will cool a room up to 150 square feet. Directions state that unit is meant for a double hung window with width between 23” - 36”. Highlights a one hour install. I installed the unit in a casement window for my grand child’s bedroom. I wouldn’t recommend an install in a casement window. I do agree that it would be an easy install in a double hung window ( vertical slider). The unit did a great job of cooling down the room. Daughter-in-law did like that there were no Lights or LEDs that would brighten the room at night. The one downfall is sealing the unit, I have found this to be a problem with all of this style air conditioner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was cheap and it works It has the only feature that matters to me...it blows lots of cold air at 43°F on a warm day. It's made to fit the classic single-hung sash window, but I made it fit into a horizontal slider. Only try that if you're handy and you don't care that it looks awful. We horizontal slider people should buy the portable AC unit or a proper slider window version, but this Vissani thing is Sooo much cheaper. I bought 4 of them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent little unit It isn’t bad! It’s a decent little unit, I don’t have the settings at a 4 and it cools my living room off decently. I think I will move it to my bedroom window, as it’s a much smaller room, and get a larger unit for the living room. I’d imagine the smaller sqft of the bedroom will allow it to feel cooler than the living room does currently. For the price I can’t complain, it has definitely helped on the humid days

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Air conditioner We installed the air conditioner in my daughters house in the front room window it was very easy to install with the extra pieces that came with it. It works very well cooling a bigger area then was told on the box. The only problem we had was there is no drain for the water so you have to watch out that it doesn’t over flow I drilled a small hole in the tray on the outside now there is no problem. I have been trying to add the pictures to this but am not good on computers I will keep trying and if I get it to work will send them along. Thank you for letting me try this item I look foreword to trying other products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Actually almost caught fire! I bought one of these Vissani units last weekend. Due to the cooler, rainier weather I might have only used it a few hours. The other night I turned it on before bed and woke up a few hours later to a strong heat smell. The AC unit was billowing smoke and was hot to the touch. I'm unsure what exactly happened, but I imagine it was something to do with the electronics in the unit. I am lucky I caught it when I did, I have no doubt that it would have caught fire. Cheaply built, obviously not a lot of quality control in these products. I would recommend either moving up to a name brand or finding a better budget brand instead of this fire hazard. I ended up returning this and going with an LG 6000 BTU.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compressor cycling fix I would like to thank Keith for his posted fix below. Mine had the exact same issue with thermostat wire touching the evaporator coils and causing the compressor to shut off prematurely. The compressor should only shut off after the room has reached set temperature. You have the problem if yours is cycling on and off every 20 sec to 1 minute. I added a pc of pipe wrap foam in between the thermo wire ant the coils to prevent this from happening again. I also called tech support. They are aware of this problem. Their fix was to return the unit! Thankfully I saw Keith's post and was able to fix on my own. It was already installed. Works great now. Saved lots of time. Hard to believe the manufacturer wouldn't spend the 2 cents on a piece of foam to save their customers from this problem. Shame on them! The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I’m sure there is better out there. Giving 3 starts because it works but not well! You can really only feel a difference in room temp when you run the unit on level 6 or 7. I imagine this uses a lot of energy and puts a lot of stress on the unit since it’s running at full capacity constantly during these hot summers. Our bedroom is about 160sft and on level 6-7 it can cool it down in about 20 minutes. On humid days, condensation builds in and on the unit and it’s sounds very wet- not sure how that will effect the units longevity. The price is nice, but the product is just ok. Save your money and buy a better unit.

Did anyone actually get a diagram of what the different settings are? The instructions that we got are HORRIBLE and not even written for this unit. The dials don't match the instructions at all so we don't know what the settings are.

Asked by: Krista366
I looked every where and could not find instructions for the cooling levels. So frustrating! I came to this conclusion, through trial and error. You would think the settings would go in a normal order? Like first being lowest cool etc. NOPE! Third is coldest ???? 4 th (last) is back to almost a fan setting. Also most window AC's I have owned had a top filter, which slides up for cleaning. This has a side filter! Be careful if you purchase. I have to remove my air conditioner out of my side slide windows to clean it! Pain for sure!

Can the fan control be set so that it only runs when the cooling unit is active?

Asked by: Glenn
Hi Glenn, Thank you for inquiring about our Vissani 5,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner. The fan runs consistently and cannot be set to only run when the unit is in cooling operation. Have a great day!

Is this suppose to sit flush across the window? I know it needs to tip back outwards but I cannot seem to get it to sit level in the window. The left side is higher than the right. Not sure if it’s made this way or just really bad manufacturing

Asked by: Mike
Check the window frame and make sure that the AC unit is not being blocked by and metal piece in the window. I had the same problem and had to remove a small thin piece of metal in the window frame and then the unit sat flush as It should.

What do the symbols on your 5000 BTU 115v window air conditionner mean, i know snow flake is cold but what are the 3 other functions ? Thank you

Asked by: Brian
I'm not entirely sure... but i've had one for a wuite a while and the first one is basically just pushing air, the second is cold air but not as forceful. The full snowflake is the most forceful cold air.
