A long-blooming, relatively low-maintenance, cold-hardy plant with a tidy habit. Purple Riding Hood boasts purple flowers on strong upright stems, amidst lush green foliage. A fine choice for the garden in the mixed perennial border, but it is also a good selection for outdoor containers. Grows best in full sunlight and under ideal conditions can be expected to reach about 24 to 30 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 18 to 20 inches. Once established, needs only occasional watering. Just keep in mind when growing plants in outdoor containers, they may require more frequent waterings. A bonus is that they act like magnets to attract hummingbirds and butterflies!
