Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time saver...but a few notes I have both this version and the original Wagner power roller. Both have been great time savers for me when painting a remodel and new house. I would recommend this product, with a few word of caution: This product is not for anyone new to painting, or without good painting skills/technique. The edging tools are not practical and hard to control, although they may work for you if you tape off your trim/casing (I am much faster free hand edging with a brush so don't bother with tape). There are many speed settings on this pump bt, unless you have it going at at least 4, the paint doesn't come out evenly. At that speed, you can't waste time and must know what you're doing or you will end up with running paint...it will make a mess rather quickly. The reverse on the pump is a huge improvement from the previous version. Less wasted paint and quicker clean up. Easy to set up and use. The longer hose means less moving the unit around to reach all walls in a room. I'm not a fan of the spray attachment, but I have only used it once or twice so suspect that this, too, may be something you'd have to fiddle with to get in the groove of. Biggest down side if you are planning on using this for large jobs is that it doesn't fit 5 gal pails. You must keep refilling 1 gal pails in order for this to be useful. I'm hoping the next generation of this product has a feature for larger paint pails/buckets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed review. Buyers take note. I bought this item because I had to paint every room in a house. My review is mixed. a) Use this device for big jobs which will not be interrupted. You can just keep on rolling, but your preparation had better be total before you get going. By big, I mean really big. b) Wagner has really tried to get this thing working. I see that. But there are some basic and inescapable facts. o Pushing paint through many joints and small pinholes is a recipe for leaks and clogging if it is not well-maintained. o This is a blunt instrument. Do not even think of doing trim work or corners. The attachments provided for that will cause a disaster. This is not a device for fine work. It motors on the straight-aways. o Assume that if you do not utterly clean up the unit after use, it will fail on the next use. Some people should NEVER buy this thing, and some other people can keep it going forever. Cleaning takes 45 picky minutes and a proper cleaning facility. That is 45 minutes that must be added to the job time, and it disqualifies a lot of jobs. o Jobs that would benefit from a long extension handle -- forget it. Jobs that have bulk flat surfaces -- good candidates if there are enough to justify the cleanup. o Nearly everything that you do with this other than actively use it can cause a leak at the roller end or the feed end. Changing heads or changing paintcans can be "exciting" moments. It can all be contained in a bucket and a plastic sheet, but it is just not a clean device except when it is rolling. c) It has 9 speeds. two slow speeds are useful (1 and 2) and one high speed is for priming and draining. All else is a recipe for disaster, massively overloading the roller even when starting and stopping. That causes drips. D) Other notes. o Do not plan on stopping frequently. You will have a hard time putting it down safely. Having extra buckets around is good. o Having a second person around is good. They can do finishing rolling to make things more-beautiful and can do trim. They can spell you in the relentless power rolling. o Do not use this for oil paints; the cleaning required becomes ridiculous. Latex is good. I used a bathtub in the end -- it is that messy. You need to get your fingers into lots of llttle places -- or else it will leak and clog on next use. Now, all that said. It goes really fast, laying down a gallon of paint about three times faster than is otherwise possible. Again, Wagner has tried, but the device "is what it is"; I love it and hate it at the same time. Now that I know what it will do, I get along with it fine. TKT

Will this work with elastomeric paint (it's very thick and gluey)?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, on low speed settings, and if kept very clean after each use. And only if the paint cleans up with water.
