Horrible product. Don't make same mistakes as me and buy this lacquer. Dries in seconds leaving the surface uneven with build up of this gooey thing. HORRIBLE!!!!!

With the organizer having a lot of grooves and corners I needed something that could spray to get into all of the nooks and crannies. This Watco Semi-Gloss Lacquer spray worked well and provided an even spray that was easily controlled. The ease of not needing to sand between coats and the smooth coat it provides with the spray makes finishing projects with this a breeze.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very smelly, drys within 10 sec....but clear. Goes on clear like description says with no yellowing. However it is a very temperamental product to use. Drys VERY fast. Also, the can says not to use above 32C. When I applied it outside(because of high fumes) at 26C with normal humidity no direct sunlight, had adverse reaction with the finish when it dried.

Then they refused for rerunning cuz of I have used it already.... Please don't buy this spray lacquer . Finish very bumpy and once use can't return. Purely wasting money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works good Dries hard and glossy. Hard to lay down without orange peel, but it can be cut and polished. Have tried other lacquers that don't end up hardening fully, but this one does. This lacquer doesn't impression when leaving something resting on it overnight.

Can this product be used on top of painted water base ?

Hi Alan, Our Crystal Clear Lacquer can be applied over a water based paint. Follow manufacturer’s direction for application of stain or paint. Make certain surface is thoroughly dry before applying Watco Clear Lacquer. We recommend a minimum of one week of drying.

I painted a wooden rocking chair and want to put it outside on covered porch. What type of clear sealant/varethane can I put on it to help preserve the paint finish longer.

Hi Chris22, Our Watco Clear Finish is for interior surfaces only. We recommend trying our Varathane Diamond Wood Finish Exterior to protect your paint . We recommend you allow your paint to fully cure, usually a few weeks, before top coating. And remember it's always best to test on a small area first.

Can this be applied over water-based stain?

Hi Shane, While the lacquer can be applied over a water based stain; we recommend allowing the water based stain to dry for a minimum of 72 hours before testing for adhesion because of the lacquers strong solvents.

Can this only be used on wood or can it also be used to coat a primed and sprayed fixture for a shower shelf?

Hi Rose, While our Watco Clear Finish can be applied to a primed and sprayed surface; It will not hold up to the amount of water exposure on a shower shelf. We do not recommend it for this type of application.
