Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent set of Cooking Grids Ignore the first two reviews. They are referring to a different set of cooking grids, definitely not the cast iron ones as there is nothing to "peel off" on these. These cast iron grids come standard on the E-320 BBQ from Home Depot (at least they did when I bought mine there). They retain heat exceptionally well and make perfect grills marks on whatever meats you happen to be cooking. Like any cast iron product they do require proper seasoning otherwise they will rust over time. A little work up front will mean these cooking grids will last the lifetime of your Weber bbq. If you're looking for replacement grills I highly recommend them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not last - cracks, flakes, and rusts I went through my first of these porcelain-enamel coated cast iron cooking grates in 2 summers, and bought this replacement set, and sure enough after only 1 season I could spot areas where the enamel wore off and rust was showing through again. At $149 a pop, I am looking at other options now. The grills look great new, but don't last long enough to warrant the high price tag. There is no warrantee on them either (kinda tells me the manufacturer knows they won't last long and isn't doing anything about it).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great grills - ignore the other review The other reviewer has reviewed the wrong product - these aren't the porcelein grates; they're solid cast iron. I've been using these for a couple of years and have had no problems with them. After they've been seasoned, they provide a great non-stick cook surface and produce terrific grill marks! They've also been very easy to clean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from peeled porcelain left me peeved the first set I got peeled in 5 weeks. the second in 3 weeks. I used a brass bristle brush to clean them as I was recommended to use, and they still peeled. I love my weber bbq but they messed up with these grates.

What is the best way to season the grids?

Asked by: Anonymous
From brand new, clean with little soap and water, if not new then using high heat and a bit of elbow grease, clean off any burned on food residue and ash. then coat the grids with cooking oil, your choice, however shortening and peanut oil work very well. Heat the bbq on high for 35-45 minutes. this will burn off the oil, sealing them up with a carbon layer. This should be done on a regular basis with cast grids, however, the more you cook the less you have to season, as the oils from food season as you go.
