Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weber® 22.5 In. One-Touch Silver Charcoal Barbeque I had one for about 5 years now and it still does a excellent job. My 2 son's now like to BBQ and only on a weber with Charcoal. People might say it takes too long to get going, well it is the same amount of time as a propane. You setup the charcoal and but on the lighter fluid and about 20 mins you are ready to start cooking the best BBQ meals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Standard of Charcoal Grilling When I moved away my parents bought me this as a Christmas Gift. It was my first barbecue ever as well as my first experience grilling with charcoal. It took a while for me to get the hang of it, but I am hooked and never going back. I was amazed at just how versatile this grill is, from a quick burger grill to nice long smoking sessions this baby can handle it all. I would recommend maybe gowing up to the premium or master touch series though to get the grill grates or Gourmet system, but you can always just buy replacement grills for it if need be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Starting Point. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Having never BBQ'd before, this is a good starting model. Well built and holds a hot fire, but very basic. There is no place to put the lid except on my patio stones, the charcoal ash falls to the tray below but on a windy day can be messy, and cooking the food has been a hit or miss without a temperature gauge. Everytime I use it, I wish I had bought the Premium model. Oh well, it was very good value for the money and I now know what to get for my next one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once you try a weber there is no turning back Once you try a weber there is no turning back, Forget those cheapo taiwanese grills, the quality you get here is visibly superior..... the 22.5 grill is fantastic. I have used it as a smoker for my ribs, and veal rack, I would never touch a gaz grill........after this experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light the coals, crack a beer I love this BBQ. I was tired of the "Start, cook, turn off" of propane. Charcoal takee a bit of to to heat up but the flavour is so great... And it returns me to the BBQ culture of when I was young. Light the coals, crack a beer. :-) What's really cool is if you close the bottom and top vents with the top on the briquettes go out and you have fuel left for the next time! I only wish it was a bit smaller... for when I have only a couple of things to cook. Maybe I'll get the smaller one for that. :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spend a bit more and get the premium While I love this charcoal bbq and grill on it constantly, I wish I had spent the extra $$ and gotten the premium model. The ash catcher, and upgraded grill alone would’ve been worth it. This bbq is still great if you’re on a budget. But a few things to note: - The ashes are a pain to clean into the catcher dish and blow all over the place most of the time I try. - You will need to plan ahead with your food placement since you’ll have to lift the whole grill out to add additional charcoal or wood chips. Lifting a grill full of burning hot food, just to add coals is not ideal. - Like a lot of others, I rigged a thermometer into the vents on the lid. The downside is that I can’t close the vents at the top now. Most, if not all, of these issues are resolved in the upgraded model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sooo...this is my third 'Original Kettle' This is my third because I have had them for thirty years. It is basic but I love the versatility. The first one lasted 15 years and still worked when I moved and gave it to a neighbour; the second was stolen after 7 years... I bought the optional grill that allows adding charcoal at the sides which is more convenient for extended convection cooking or smoking. Great for a true BBQ experience!

Can you also use the Charcoal Lumps instead of the briquettes?

Asked by: Anonymous
yes, you can use lump charcoal. the briquets are recommended because they are uniform in shape and size, thus making it easier to achieve even heat, however lump will work fine, especially if you are doing a slow roast or smoke.

Does this barbacue let off more or less smoke than a gas bq?

I live in an apt with a balcony.
Asked by: Anonymous
The amount of smoke created by cooking depends on what you're cooking. The fattier the meat, the more smoke. So in that regard, gas and charcoal are around the same. However, the process of lighting charcoal will result in large flames and lots of smoke. If you're worried about cooking on the balcony, because you aren't supposed to be cooking on the balcony, then you should probably avoid it altogether. My next suggestion would be to wait a couple of months for the New Weber Q Electric series. they are totally safe for balcony use. check out www.weber.com for details.

Does Home Depot sell replacement cooking grates for this grill?

I know that you can buy them directly through the weber website, but I'm hoping that my local HD carries them so that I can save on shipping and have delicious BBQ RIGHT NOW!
Asked by: Anonymous
They are not stocked in the stores, however you can special order them through your local store. Weber will not ship directly to Canada.
