Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money I purchased 2 of these units in Aug of 2019, the one on the front door protected by a storm door is OK, the one for the garage door ate batteries since it was new lasting less than 4 months, (this is normal apparently) Then the lock pad randomly began flashing and beeping. I did a reset, and still same trouble, contacted Weiser they made me replace batteries 2 time with new batteries, did the same rest and told me it was no good to purchase another one as mine is out of warranty. I am abit old school and think that things like this should last a lot longer than 2 1/2 years, so i will not be purchasing any more products with Weiser or Kwickset name on them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Disappointment I bought this in January. Not even one day after installing and setting it up, it started to beep. Tried resetting codes. Then it got to the point where I was trying to enter my home and the touchscreen would not recognize me touching the button. I could not even use the key to unlock it manually! Also it seem liked every time it snow - the snowflakes would initiate the touchscreen. It felt like someone was pressing the buttons. I’ve been waiting for it to warm up outside to see how it works. Still the same. Beeps all the time! Overall just disappointed with the touchscreen. Do not recommend this for an outside door open to the elements. I will be returning the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great electronic lock! I bought this to match my Weiser Halifax handset and the colour and finish was a perfect match. The mechanism is very smooth. 30 user codes is a bonus although I’ll never use that many. In order to avoid always touching the same areas of the screen when you enter the unlock code, the system will pop up random numbers at random locations that you need to touch first. This way the entire screen gets touched regularly thereby fooling thieves who can guess your number just by which areas of the screen are touched regularly. Installation and programming a breeze, a monkey with thumbs can do it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to view screen in bright daylight Bought and installed one our new garage door this past month, the screen is not bright enough and incredibly hard to read in direct bright daylight. You have to enter a random code to activate the full keyboard. It's devised as a way to hide repeated keystrokes and the resulting fingerprints. It's a good idea but makes for frustrating user experience. If the door is ever so slightly out of alignment and the deadbolt encounters slight resistance, you may need to pull or push the door handle to make it align and function properly. The lock function is good. I wouldn't recommend this for any door in direct sunlight.

I purchased 3 of them, 1 on front and 1 on back, both were away from direct weather, and the 3rd was meant for my daughter's apartment. Installation and programming was simple and straight forward, look decent as well, we were happy for this purchase, enjoy and addicted to the conveniences very much! However, starting 2nd month, the one in the back started beeping randomly by itself, which was seriously scary when it's in the middle of the night. I used 4 set of new batteries with no luck, and finally replaced it with the 3rd deadbolt unit after it locked us outside since the touchscreen won't respond except beeping. But the other ones also started random beeping weeks later... became a X'mas nightmare lol. I eventually returned all of them. The annoying random beeping came up at a 5-10 seconds frequency, the touchscreen showed up on its own, when we try to enter code, 5 and 9 never responded, other numbers randomly won't respond, sometimes the whole unit locked up for a minute, changing battery sets only help on locked screen, resetting the system won't help anything, these same situations happened to all 3 sets. During the whole period of use, the weather was mostly rainy and humid, but the units stayed dry at all time, temperature were mostly 2-10, only 3 nights went -2, no snow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Bought this two years ago and have always had issues with it once it got cold outside. Often the key pad wouldn’t register fingers hitting the buttons once it got too cold. Then the wind & rain would set it off many times. Fast forward to today, now that our electronic warranty is finished, and the keypad just randomly beeps, randomly locks, randomly unlocks. We changed the batteries. Done a reset. Changed the code. The whole nine yards, and still beeping. Called customer service and although I told her when I purchased it, she proceeded to “troubleshoot” with me, only to tell me she can’t do anything for me cause the warranty is up. Let’s just say it’s our last time purchasing any Weiser products!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Random Beeping and Locking Bought this a week ago for our front door. Installation was relatively easy and programming was even easier. Loved the convenience of the touchscreen coding to unlock and lock the door. Saved me having to dig my keys out every time. BUT, about 5 days in it started acting very weird. Random beeping at all times and auto locking, which I had not programmed in. It would even auto lock when the door was open. I tried resetting and reprogramming but this did not help. I switched out the new batteries for a new set of new batteries and this did not help. I worried it would unlock itself either at night or when we weren't home. Two nights ago my husband removed the batteries to stop the random beeping that was happening every 30 seconds during the night. We will be removing and returning. Nice price but too unreliable and annoying to keep. We went back to the 3 stores to try the other Weiser options and nothing worked properly in the stores either. Not impressed and will probably be looking to see what other brands have to offer.

Weiser's 'GED1400' is virtually identical to the 'Kwikset 275 Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt' in every respect. You can get a pdf of the installation manual and programming guide, again virtually identical to the one in the Weiser box, from Kwikset's website here: https://www.kwikset.com/products/details/electronic-locks/275-cnt-15.aspx Note that Weiser and Kwikset are both owned by Black & Decker, which is also now owned by Stanley Tools. I'm setting up this lock and at the step of teaching it the orientation of the door but the latch does not retract. It extends and stays extended. What am I doing wrong?

Yes l ran into the same problem. If l can recall... make sure lock is retracted in first. There should be a code to clear memory. Set code to relearn. The motor will make bolt go back and forth. You might have to take batteries out then back in to clear memory then reenter code.

In this unit, what type of batteries are best for -40C (-40 F) temps? Alkaline or Lithium? What is the expected length of battery life? Will rechargeable batteries perform well in this lock at -40 temps?

I currently have weiser locks on all my doors. Would I be able to keep or reprogram the deadbolt to work with those? Also, how will it hold up in rain? I'm considering getting two of these but they must be able to withstand rain

Hello Peter, Thank you for your questions. This electronic deadbolt does not contain a Smartkey cylinder and cannot be re-keyed to match your existing Weiser deadbolts. However you can use the key from the deadbolt and re-key your existing deadbolts to the new key. As for withstanding rain, all of our locks are tested to withstand tough Canadian including snow and rain. You should have no issues with any of our Weiser locks and wet weather. Thanks, Weiser
