I also have a 5 1/8 inch canopy and wondering how it could fit on a 4 inch opening. I read the similar question and answer below, but not sure what is meant by adding a longer threaded pipe of ca. 3+"? Would anyone be able to explain that further?

Hello, In theory the 5 1/8" canopy would be able to fit on a 4 inch opening. However it would just sit on the ring in the middle of the medallion and not inside of the ring. Now to answer your question, What are Threaded pipe? They are the mounting screws. Remember, these screws would need to help attach the light your using to the ceiling itself. They would need to be long enough to go through the medallion to the Mounting plate. Hope this helps.
